EDIT: Def has improved over the last year. I'm still not a fan of their slices, but the fresh pizza is the best in town.
I've been to this place three times. The fresh pizza is good, but the slices and service are hit or miss.
I'm a fan of pizza by the slice, because when it's done right it's better than a fresh pie. These people can't seem to get it right. They either dry your slice out or it comes out cold in the middle most of the time. Kind of disappointing, because I like the idea of having a joint nearby where I can grab a slice at lunch.
As for the service, it's pretty clear that the people running this place don't have much experience in food service. That, or they just don't care. They have no systems in place for getting your food to you on time and in order. I ordered a salad, two slices, and a drink, and told them I'd be back for the slices. This confused the heck out of the guy behind the counter. It was like he couldn't wrap his head around the concept of someone who didn't want their pizza to get cold while they were eating their appetizer.
Then earlier today I walked in at lunch and ordered two slices and a drink. The guy who took my order never asked if I wanted the order to go. I grabbed a drink and sat down, and was wondering why it took forever to get my food. Turns out it was sitting in a box on the counter for ten minutes getting cold. The guy never told me my order was ready. I was sitting not ten feet away reading a book on my phone while I waited, and the guy just let me sit there while my food was getting cold and nasty the entire time.
Oh, and there are three tables inside the place. That's it. This is mainly a carry-out joint—be prepared for that. I have no idea why they laid the place out like that. They have a huge kitchen and prep area in the back, way larger than they need. They could've easily fit several tables or booths in the space by making the kitchen and prep area smaller. My guess is, based on the quality of service, they just don't like serving people.
It's also kind of pricey. Four slices and a couple of drinks for two people can put you back $40. That's not what slice pizza is about. It's about getting a filling lunch for a ten spot. I guess we can blame quantitative easing for that, but it still bites. Next time I'll just order a whole pie.
So for everyone who is raving about this place, I'm here to tell you that they have some kinks to work out. I hope they do, because the fresh pies are pretty good. But personally, I can't stand receiving poor service from people who just can't bring themselves to care enough about their customers to ask questions, clarify orders, and do things right.
I'm going to give them a few months to work things out and head back. Maybe I'll revise my review then....
Read moreI have been here twice & BOTH times a significant portion of my order was made incorrectly. For the steep price, I would hope it to be tasty & as ordered - Unfortunately, neither are true.
But wait, it gets worse! After getting home with the SECOND wrong order I call the restaurant with no answer & leave a voicemail. Never heard back, so when I receive a survey a couple hours later I filled it out.
I receive an email from the “principal” who promises to make it right & then proceeds to ask multiple questions over several emails - I provide my receipt & picture of the wrong pizza, etc. It is now a week later & I am still waiting for it to be made right!
Customer service 101 is when you promise to “make something right” you should probably respond to emails & do that. Like other reviews, I also witnessed the “boss” being rude to employees during my visit. Not a business I want to support!
Update To Add: Everything I wrote is the truth. Please do not call me a liar while lying lol You have not responded to every single email. I have the string of emails to prove it. The reviews were written AFTER not receiving a response from you. Then & only then did you respond blaming it on your card processor. You are not even listing a correct refund amount!
You are being difficult & you know it. You are pushing for a remake instead of a partial refund - If something is gross & made wrong TWICE, people don’t want a remake! And no, I will not be revising my review like you requested, but that definitely makes me question the legitimacy of other reviews!
I would think the “owner/founder/principal” would be well versed in customer service & have a correct refund amount. A review should never “remove an incentive to refund” an incorrect order that was already promised to be made right. Never have I ever received such poor customer service. Maybe less social media & more customer service & quality control...
Read moreMy wife told me about a new pizza place one Sunday afternoon while we were deciding what to eat for lunch/dinner. She's from Chicago and I'm from Atlanta so our tastes are a bit different from one another's. That didn't stop Slice Street Pizza.
It was easy to find, and it was a clean shop, even for mid day dining which can sometimes get a little messy when the rush hits. I walked in and was greeted by the owner as he wrapped up with another table and he took my order. Two pizzas one deep dish and one thin crust. He gave a few recommendations when he saw me looking over the menu and wasn't overly pushy, which I appreciated. He asked me my name for the order and told me it'd be ready soon. It was priced reasonably considering how much we ordered and the area we were in; definitely family friendly when you're on a budget.
I wasn't waiting long before the owner brought out a couple slices of cheese to my table and simply said, "While you wait, Nick." It was very kind and I appreciated that he used my name. Felt more like he was happy to help as a friend than willing to server a customer, not that either is bad.
The pizza was ready about 10 minutes after I ordered, with about 10-15 people either eating or ordering around me. I thanked him, finished my two slices and left. Deep dish pizza can be difficult to get right especially when the ovens are also baking thin crust pizza as well. I brought it home and my wife and I really enjoyed it.
When you know pizza, you know pizza, and Slice Street Pizza knows. Can't say for sure if it's our new favorite spot to grab pizza with Stoney's and Pizza Cave near by, but we will absolutely be back and very likely take be a top 3 option when we get friends or family from out of state...
