Food was fine, service was subpar. Probably won't go back again, although we do have tickets for the upcoming Christmas breakfast so we hope that goes better.
We showed up a few minutes before opening, and there was already someone waiting outside the locked door. We got in line, a bus of 22 showed up, and another person showed up. At about 11:02 the door was still locked, so we called but nobody answered the phone. At 11:03 Brittany came to the door, unlocked it, threw it open a bit (not holding it open for customers) and hurried away.
By the time we got inside, she was on the other side of the restaurant talking to someone else, knowing there was customers to seat. We were first in line for a table, and it took 3 minutes for her to come back and seat us.
At 11:07 she came back to take our order. She seemed very discombobulated. We asked a couple of questions about the menu and ordered drinks. We asked for lemons and she had to check to see if they had them (this was a recurring theme today). She did not seem sure about the answers she was giving us, we got a lot “I think”.
When she brought our drinks back a couple of minutes later, she had them backwards (not the biggest deal, but we are only 2 people so in my opinion it’s easy to pay attention to the details and get it right).
We were not quite ready to order at that time, but few minutes later at 11:12 we put in our food order.
At 11:30 the table behind us received their food (they arrived after we did). She passed our table and said they were waiting for my burger to come up. At this point, my drink was empty.
At 11:33 she came back to the table and said “they just went to put down your onion rings and we don’t have onions and the truck hasn’t arrived.” Just that, no “I’m sorry, I apologize, or what side would you like instead?” I told her to just add fries instead. She ran back to the kitchen and brought our food back 2 minutes later. Total wait time for food was 21 minutes. Not horrible but for the first customers sat after opening, only ordering a burger + fries and a cold sandwich + fries, I’d expect a little faster, but not a huge deal on its own. When she brought the food she asked what sauces we needed and said she would bring a drink refill. She brought the sauces back right away. At that time we noticed that one meal had a much larger portion of fries than the other so we asked about that. Her quick answer without even looking at the plates was “oh they’re the same. We use a scoop,” and after a few times of saying that she said “I can bring you more if you want,” which we agreed to.
10 minutes later the fries and refill arrived. We were at least 3/4 the way done eating at this point.
At 11:50 she brought the bill. The upcharge for the onion rings was on there still. We were also charged $2.99 for the upgrade from chips to fries, when were told “I think it’s $2.50,”when we originally were asking questions about the menu. We also noticed that the menu had the cheeseburger listed at $9.99, but the receipt charge was $10.00. This is certainly not a big deal and I’m not complaining over 1 cent, however the other menu item was $12.99 and rang up as such. This just shows lack of attention to detail.
We asked her to remove the onion rings from the bill which she did.
Before leaving, we asked for a to go cup for our drink that we did not have time to drink. The answer was “oh, let me see if I have any.” She ran to the back and came back with the cup. We were standing up and obviously going to pay after that, but she ran back to the other part of the restaurant.
We waited at the check out for a couple of minutes. Paid with cash and she had to “see if I have any change,” which required to go to the other side of the restaurant to a different register. She either couldn’t get into the register or there was not the right bills in there so she had to go to the kitchen to get the manager, Brandon. Brandon came out to get into the register. We went to her and just asked for less change which she counted out of her server...
Read moreThis is an edit after my second and last visit to this establishment. This was a second chance. I wanted to like this place. But, service was terrible. After 20 minutes we had to ask the server if there was a problem with the appetizer. I literally had to get up and look around to find our server. She refused to even look at our table. We'd given up and were about to just go elsewhere when finally our food arrived. And I'm not even sure how this could happen, but the Alfredo sauce on my pasta had turned. It even stunk like it was rotten. There are just so many failures before you put rotten food on the table in front of a customer. It's got be have been from a can, first off, and that just have been opened and stored too long. Then it had to be cooked, rotten and stinking, without being noticed by the cook. Then the server had to carry that rotten stinking food to the table. It's frightening that this was allowed to happen. Until Gordon Ramsay shows up to fix that place, to I won't be back. You can't serve me rotten food and ask for a third chance.
The response from the restaurant suggesting that the food was not absolutely rotten is ridiculous. She didn't deny it when we were standing there. Maybe they used rotten cream, BUT IT WAS ROTTEN. It's absolutely irresponsible for her to suggest that my pallet is just overly sensitive to ROTTEN food.
And, I have no idea where she got that my mother "loved" her food. She said it was fine, but she wouldn't go out of her way to go back, based on her own food. But she smelled that the Alfredo was rotten too. Acknowledged by the server and manager after I pointed it out.
The manager, when asked to come to the table, said she seen me standing up looking around for assistance during the visit. Yet she did not offer any until summoned. I thought that telling.
Also, in response to their previous reply: the exit sign was on the canopy over the door, which you do not see if you go to the wheelchair ramp and come back under the canopy. And no one was on duty anywhere when we came in.
Very mixed review. Handicap access is not great. Parked close but there's no wheelchair ramp close. There was no staff or signage to direct us when we came in. We just sat ourselves and waited patiently. About 10 minutes later we noticed a hostess show up, so I went to let her know where we were. The restrooms were incredibly neglected and 3 of 4 stalls were completely out of TP, which made for an awkward and uncomfortable search AFTER doing my business. Our server, Hannah, was a delight and saved the day. The poutine, on the menu in typical Kentucky fashion as "Gravy Fries" were very good. I ordered the cherry bourbon bbq chicken which is supposed to come with two chicken breasts. I was about to let them know they forgot one of them when I realized there were actually two very small breasts there. Maybe pigeon. The flavor was fantastic, but the meat was very overcooked and tough. Mashed potatoes were underwhelming, but the brussel sprouts (which I don't typically like) were amazing. My mother ordered the catfish, which was unremarkable, but the hush puppies raw in the middle and inedible.
The things that were right were right with that I'll give it another try. And Hannah was great, without her it would have barely...
Read moreLiterally awful, do yourself a favor and go to the Cracker Barrel in the same parking lot or just wait until another exit. We got off the interstate hoping to find something local to support and it was a mistake. We got to the hostess stand and nobody came for at least 10 minutes, there was no one else waiting and a number of empty tables. We accidentally signed up for the rewards bc multiple staff members saw us and made no contact or explanation so we thought we had to check ourselves in. Right as we were getting ready to walk out we got seated, unfortunately for us. It took another 10-15 minutes to place our drink order but we were able to order our food in a timely manner. The pickle chips could have been good but were DRENCHED in the darkest, most burnt oil I have ever seen. It was literally dripping off of them on to the table and we couldn't eat any of the ones on the bottom because they were literally soaking in it. My son got the catfish plate, $19, and it was so gross that he didn't eat any of it aside from the half of his fries that were "fresh". Half of the fries were literally cold and rubbery and it seemed like they gave him a handful of old fries then threw a few semi-fresh ones on top. My food, the daily special, was a taco salad and nothing about it was as advertised or correct. It was supposed to have pico and jalapeños and some other stuff on it and it was supposed to be chicken. I got a shell that was deep fried to a crisp, in the same dark burnt oil, that was literally dark brown and sitting in a puddle of oil. It had nothing on it but dry ground beef and cheese with a small tossing of bagged salad, the kind that comes with slivers of carrot and red cabbage in it and most of the salad was that. We received no silverware or napkins until I asked for them after getting the entrees. The server offered to have mine remade but at this point we had been there for an hour (in the middle of the afternoon, not at a rush point) and did not have time to wait on it much less eat it bc we were scared of being late for our next stop as every step in this restaurant seems to require a minimum 30 min wait time. She then noticed that my son had eaten basically none of his food and asked if he wanted a box and I had to stop him from saying not really bc our server was so nice and it wasn't her fault that the food was gross and the hostess took forever and didn't give us silverware. My stomach hurt the entire way home from the puddle of grease from the pickle chips I managed to eat. I avoid chains and corporations like the plague and I would have rather eaten McDonalds than this, and it would have cost about 1/4 of the price and hurt my stomach less. Also all the coolers and little candy room and stuff in the pics online were empty and appeared to be permanently out of use. Honestly should have stood up for myself instead of spending $30 on food that wasn't eaten, and that was the price after my food was taken...
