My wife started frequenting Baraboo's shortly after it first opened and has enjoyed the food & service ever since, until yesterday. I was able to join her once shortly after her first experience and I have to say it was a very good experience for both of us and have recommended it to many people. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Baraboo's any longer. The service and food yesterday were not good. The waiter was very short/terse with his questions, never came back to check on us after delivering the food and it was obvious he didn't want to be serving us. My wife ordered nachos, and I ordered the Frisco Breakfast Burger. When the food was delivered, my sandwich had burnt toast and bacon, and my wife's nachos had overcooked tortilla chips. I'm not one to complain so I tried eating the sandwich. After eating half of it, I just couldn't force myself to finish the other half, so we got the waiter's attention to let him know it was too burnt to eat. (I know the waiter didn't cook the food, but I have a difficult time believing he didn't see how burnt the toast was and didn't care to ask me if it was acceptable.) He took the remaining half sandwich back to the cook where another piece of bread was toasted (just shy of being burned again) and cut in half to replace the first piece of burnt toast. The original "innards" of the sandwich were placed between the pieces of toast, (with no jalepeno raspberry jam), and delivered to me, with no eye contact and a short "sorry about that" by the owner himself. I was hungry, so I finished the sandwich, waited a long time through the "pay the check" process and left a note on the bill stating: "We won't be back!" They were obviously too busy for the number of staff they had working, but...
Read moreThis place will steal from you. They print out two different receipts, one was the standard breakdown with tip and total of $23 The second was just a total, but that total was $6 higher than the the first WITHOUT A BREAKDOWN. Just a total of $29. The math didn't math. I left a $5 tip on the first receipt totalling $28. I sat back to see what they would charge me. When the charge came through at $29. I knew they were playing the "overcharge they'll never notice" game. I've seen it maaaany times before and proceeded to call the owner out, of course he played dumb. I asked for my $6 difference back and he gave me $8 back. They are taking advantage of the heavy drinkers but im not a drinker and i walked out sober. $2 isn't hush money, so here I am. Watch your 6 and stay frosty.
Ps. There were two receipts with the higher amount hidden behind my actual bill. The "thank you" was civility. Would you rather I make a scene due to you being a thief and liar? You tried to pull a common scam and got caught. Play it off all you want, but the people should know to watch their tabs at your establishment. I don't expect you to admit anything, nor am I debating. You switching gears and playing a victim...
Read moreWe were treated terribly. I am so disappointed with this bar. My friends and I enjoyed coming to this bar on Wednesday's for karaoke night and a nice, chill atmosphere. A week prior to this bad experience, we had so much fun drinking and singing along. So just over a week ago a group of 6 of us came again to celebrate a birthday. We arrived just before we 9:30 pm and a couple members of our party ordered drinks (variety of beer, liquor, and shots) while a couple others sang karaoke. By 9:55 we were asked to leave twice for "loitering". Twice. One friend was driving us, so was never going to drink, and the other two were singing karaoke. We were so excited to spend the night there and instead immediately left. I was upset by the way that we were treated and asked a bar tender if this behavior was expected and I got a shrug of ignorance....
