I have been in this restaurant 3 times in the last 2 weeks.1st time was at the beginning of the month whenI was staying at the hotel best Westerni went into the old Chicago restaurant to have dinner and stood at the front counter for at least 15 minutes there was only a few people in the dining room, finally a girl greered me and handed me a menu with no prices on it when I asked about prices she told me they were on the other menu then walked away, I walked out! So I am staying at the hotel again tonight and decided to order a pizza for lunch today because I was waiting for my room to ready and old Chicago was next door, ordered online and picked it up at the restaurant all went well it was ready when they said it would be and the woman that handed me the order was very professional and friendly, so tonight I was hungry and decided to go into the restaurant and order something for dinner, when I entered the restaurant I was greeted by a very professional and friendly young lady who took my order and was very thorough as to what dressing I wanted for my salad and sauce for my chicken fingers. She told me that my order would be ready in about 15 to 20 minutes, so I took my dog for a walk around the hotel and came back to pick up my food as I walked in she was leaving because her shift ended. She told me that my food should be ready in a few minutes. I waited in the entry way on the bench for about another 10 minutes and then stood at door waiting for someone to come greet me, a woman with black hair walked by me twice and didn't say a word then a door Dasher came in and she helped him and then walked away not saying a word to me. She went and sat down in one of the booths and looked at me and then walked in the kitchen. There was then another door Dasher came and was given order and still no greeting from her after that I said can I get some help please, the waiter working by the bar came up and helped me. I didn't even get what I ordered for the sauces, the salad barely had anything on it and tater tots were cold. Also I ordered at 8pm and didn't get my initial order until 8:45 pm, and all I ordered was chicken fingers and a dinner salad. I asked for the manager and he came out to solve the issue which he did and was very helpful. The manager made me a new salad and also apologized. There only one group of people even eating in the dining room and there were 3 waite staff on the floor. So they weren't even busy. If I even eat here again it will be because of the manager. I work for a company that has 10 to 20 different groups of people stay at this hotel twice a week. I also noticed that the hotel is always full and the restaurant is almost empty except for the bar. Makes you...
Read moreSat at the bar, ordered a pizza with double pepperoni and Chicago style crust. Bartender taking our order seemed to be having a hard time understanding, but eventually said, 'Ok, so a regular pepperoni with another layer of pepperoni on top of that?' Yes we said, glad that he finally understood. Later some other guy brings a pizza out that had green peppers, black olives and idk what else, like a garden pizza. We said that wasn't what we ordered. The guy with the pizza told the bartender standing about 6 foot from us that this wasn't what we ordered. The bartender gets super mad and says, "I asked them several times, Chicago 7 and they said yes!" He then storms off walking into the back! And on the way threw a dish or something loud down on the tile floor! We looked at the guy holding the pizza who seemed as shocked as we were. The guy holding the pizza was super nice, wish I could give him credit for being so nice and apologetic but I don't know his name. My son said to just give us our bill we were leaving. The nice guy went back and got the manager who offered to make us another pizza, but we didn't have time to wait for another to cook. So she said garlic bread was fast if we wanted that, no charge. We accepted and in a like 5 minutes she brought out one order of garlic bread, no charge. It was good, and nice, but didn't really make up for no lunch. And surprisingly, the manager didn't even come the 3 drinks we had, just the order of garlic bread. I said it was totally inexcusable how that bartender acted. She didn't really seem upset about it at all, but assured me she was going to talk to him. Really? Talk to him? I kid you not he was SO MAD at us, saying we ordered something we didn't order, and then threw something as he walked out he was so mad. What the heck??? Guy needs anger management, and management needs to do more than talk to him, and maybe could have comped us a little more since we had to leave without anything to eat except a shared order of garlic bread. Yes we were offered the wrong pizza for free to eat, but my son doesn't like black olives and I don't like green peppers. It was about 2pm and there was hardly anyone in there also. One guy at a table by himself and one couple at another table and then us. So it wasn't because they were busy and he got...
Read moreWent there yesterday May 11th to of course get some Chi-Style pizza. Here's the breakdown of what I deemed as crucial points in terms of wait, service, and food. Please keep in mind that I currently reside on the suburbs of Chicago, I attended University in Dubuque (2017), this impacts how I rate my review on Old Chicago in Dubuque.
TL;DR at the bottom.
The wait was non-existent, we went at a good time to where they we were not busy. Awesome.
The service was good, our waitress was attentive, sometimes a tad bit too much. I understand that it wasn't busy and there was more time to come check up on the customers, but this one was a little too much checking up. But no big deal, best to have that then the abounded waitress.*
The only downside of this service itself was that the waiting staff were visibly seen as lounging around on there phones. To me, it doesn't paint a good picture seeing on-the-clock staff nonchalantly on their phones. Though I understand it's slow and not much to do, there should be some sort of moral or direction from managers on having them go somewhere else for a bit of rest or something not as visible.
Now for the food, we only got the Deep Dish, Double Deckoroni™, that's a good $25 right there. To put it simply, the pizza was not made to order, it was cold and lackluster. It was no where near a Chicago Deep Dish, did it ever claim to be, is the question. I made the assumption as "yes", when you have the words "Chicago" and "pizza" us Illinoians think of one thing, "Chicago Style Pizza". I'm not one to be rude or what have you when my food isn't as it should be, being rude for your food nonsensical. This pizza did not seem fresh/on demand at all. I had asked the waitress how long it normally takes and she says 30-40 minutes. Cool no biggie, but as soon as she left another server came with our pizza. It didn't even take 15 minutes, under normal circumstances this would seem as fast service, but this was just...off, for lack of better words.
Overall, I won't be coming to this place again. I can see where this place is better off with their beer selections and possibly other food options. However, this wasn't the place for me.
TL;DR: Service was good,...
