Look no further y'all, BBMyun is THE place to go for Korean comfort food in Duluth. Their friendly service, chic interior, and impressive selection of foods will keep you coming back for more.
BBMyun is the 3rd restaurant from the folks who brought you Dan Moo Ji and Thank U Chicken (also in Duluth, check em' out). It's located in the Sweet Hut shopping center just off of Pleasant Hill, so there's plenty of parking. You can't miss it, their sign is eye-catching and well lit.
Staff guided my group through temperature checks upon entry and then promptly showed us to our table. Hand sanitizer is available and menus are accessible via QR code. The interior is chic and modern and there is a variety of seating that is suitable for many different group sizes. Bathrooms are very clean, which is always a plus.
On to the food! I tried a bit of everything and all the dishes were tasty and worth the price. Reviews of individual dishes below:
PICKLED RADISH + CHICKEN SOUP - These come complimentary with every order and offer free refills if you run out. The pickled radish is crispy with a good level of pickled flavor. Pretty standard and a great way to start your meal. The chicken soup is soooooo good. It comes in a cute milk steaming cup and it tastes delish. So full of flavor, I drank 3 cups worth!
CHEESE N TUNA KIMBAP - Larger than your average kimbap and you definitely get your money's worth. The ingredients, rice and seaweed are all quality and fresh. I thought the cheese n tuna flavors could've stood out a bit more but the kimbap still tasted quite good. I look forward to trying the other flavors next time I visit.
KIMMARI - I'm a sucker for good kimmari and this place delivers. Kimmari is essentially clear sweet potato noodles wrapped in seaweed and then deep fried. It comes with a tasty sweet soy sauce for dipping. The kimmari at BBMyun came out hot, crispy, and fresh and the sauce was super flavorful.
JUMBO NOODLE DUMPLING - This dish feels like a slightly different take on kimmari and is quite good! These deep fried dumplings contain the same sweet potato noodles as the kimmari but are much more crispy and crunchy due to using dumpling wrappers in place of seaweed. They also come with a spicy chili sauce instead of a soy sauce. Try these over kimmari if you're looking for a more spicy, filling dish.
BIBI MYUN - A lot of folks that I know tend to be a bit wary of cold noodles, but if you're looking to try them out, BBMyun's Bibi Myun is the dish to try. This is the perfect refreshing dish on a hot day. It's a delicious mix of spicy chili sauce, fresh, crunchy veggies, and cold noodles that will leave you wanting more. This dish is their namesake - and rightfully so! Give it a try!
DIY DDUKBOKKI - I'm not usually a fan of ddukbokki but quite enjoyed this one! The 60oz portion is $13.99 and I'd say it can feed 2-3 people. The rice cakes are chewy, the fish cakes have a great flavor, and the sauce was not too spicy (we got regular spicy). We added mozzarella cheese ($4) and clear noodles and the cheese was a huuuuge portion. Our table had trouble finishing the cheese - I would have preferred a smaller portion even if the price were the same. Overall this dish was tasty and the size and customization options make it great for sharing!
Between the diverse menu, fresh and delicious food at good prices, and chic interior, I highly recommend giving this...
Read moreI used to go to BBMyun a lot and I remember each time I went I had a good time because the service and food was amazing. However, I went to BBMyun recently and was extremely disappointed because the minute we walked in I was used to being welcomed and employees greeting and being so sweet from the beginning of the service to the end. My recent visit, the employees started to announce self service without any context and I was confused. They didn't tell me they had completely changed their restaurant concept.
The food was good, but the portions and the sides were greatly reduced compared to before. Additionally, the whole process was inefficient because they made us get up and down to grab multiple parts of our food order, plates, and drinks. My sister stated that she did not want to come back because the quality has decreased and there were better options in Duluth to go to then here. Many of my korean friends told me afterwards not to go there again because they charge for kimchi which is ridiculous because I have never not gotten kimchi or been charged for it at any KOREAN restaurant.
After this whole experience I felt like the restaurant has become a food court and lost their touch. They can state that they are doing it for efficiency and to save waste, etc. However, there are many better options around Duluth and Atlanta for Korean food with amazing service to accompany the food. Regardless, I agree with many people that I will not be returning unless it returns to how it was prior or becomes better. I miss the old staff and how sweet the ahjumma that used to work there was. She made sure we always had enough soup on cold days and made sure our...
Read more(Copied & Pasted from my Yelp) I usually don't write bad reviews, but this HAS to be said. It breaks my heart to say that this is by far one of the worst places I've eaten at in Georgia.
I don't know how you can mess up kimbap, but someway somehow they managed to do it. I ordered the squid kimbap, and it was probably the worst thing I've eaten in a fat minute. First roll, I tasted nothing. I thought maybe there was too much rice, so I ate the squid filling and it was STILL bland. On top of that, the rice tasted old. Only two of my kimbaps had 2 strands of carrots while the others had not a singular dingular strand of carrot. In fact, the only other filling was cabbage? I don't know lol it was just so bland that I genuinely couldn't tell what else was in there. After two rolls, I decided it just wasn't worth eating anymore.
The soup was also old - womp womp.
I was seriously debating on ordering another dish but realized it wasn't worth the money. If they messed up something as simple as kimbap, they'd definitely mess up any other dish. I was just beyond disappointed.
This place doesn't even serve you at all. They have a self-service kiosk, and you pick up the food yourself. I asked one of the workers a question at the front, and he was extremely disrespectful. It made me regret tipping for a service I never even received to begin with.
This was just a -100/10 experience lol I don't recommend coming here. So disappointing. I used to...
