Do not take your jewelry to Jared's for any reason. I did not purchase my ring from Jared's, but I took it there in April 2018 for an appraisal. Upon leaving the store and returning home I immediately noticed that one of my stones was missing. The ring was perfectly in tact during the inspection process. I returned to the store within the hour to voice my complaint. The appraiser agreed that the ring was not missing any stones and each stone was tight during the appraisal process. Jared's agreed to make the repair at no charge (afterall it was their fault) stating that the "cleaning machine" most likely shook the stone loose. I left the store that day with a repaired ring.
Skip ahead to yesterday August 23, 2021. I dropped my ring on the floor and when I picked it up I noticed the exact stone that was replaced by Jared's in 2018 had come out AGAIN. I know this because I took photos in April 2018 and yesterday. No other stones came out which means that the replacement stone which was DUE TO THEIR ERROR was not set properly. I reached out to Jared's and was informed that I would be charged to replace my stone because there is a 6 month warranty on repairs and I had not purchased my ring from them. My question was why should I be held accountable for something that was caused by Jared's initially. If other stones had fallen out of my ring as well I would say that I should pay for the repairs, but, the only stone that came out for a 2nd time is the one that they repaired due to their error. But, this is their fault.
Prior to today and despite the fact that they created the original issue I have only had good things to say about the store, the employees and their customer service. After today, I highly recommend that no one does business with them when it comes to diamonds.
My items are insured, but to save myself the grief I will pay for it out of pocket to be repaired.....anywhere except Jared's Duluth!
Update: Jaredâs responded via email (see photo below) and I responded Hello,
I appreciate your response however, the point is that the ONLY stone that had ever been displaced is the one that Jaredâs replaced due to YOUR equipment. IF my my ring had been dropped the extent of damage to the stones multiple stones would have been displaced, therefore it is a direct result of your work. I am extremely disappointed in your customer service. For this reason I will advise everyone possible not to bring their items to Jaredâs for any reason.

No names will be thrown out because I have both of their names on the card and I choose to tell the truth unlike them. First and for most, they absolutely tricked and lied to me and my boyfriend. We just went to casually look around for rings. I wasnât in love with that ring but they insisted on my bf buying it while we were there. Honestly, I, the girlfriend, cannot be there while he buys it!! Itâs a surprise, that special moment, of my boyfriend picking what we both like for him to propose. They kept repeating, âIâll take her for some coffee while you buy it.â Just absurd. I was already annoyed right then and there. Second, the lady stated, âwould you like to see if you can be pre approved?â We said no, we donât want anything on our credit or to have a credit check, or anything of a credit card because we are not sure if Jared is the place for us. She said again, âoh, it wonât go your credit, we wonât send you a credit card. Donât worry, weâre just going to look.â When she saw whatever his score was, both of the sales reps went to the back to get coffee and water and pulled me away from my boyfriend for me to get my attention off of what the lady and my man were doing. Steering me here and there to MAKE THAT SALE. They were so persistent on a ring I said I was not too sure of. About a week or 2, we had a mail and guess where it was from?! Jared had sent a credit card and had placed a enquiry on my bfâs credit. Called the manager and complained and Iâm just baffled by his statement. âYou can still use it if you want.â He was still trying to tell us to use it. If within the next 20 days, if itâs not removed off my bfâs credit, I guess weâll have to take it to a serious matter. Overall, the Duluth location are honestly money hungry. Because my fiancĂ© and I decided to get married without too much time for planning, I wished to skip on the engagement ring (I also personally have issues with paying for a diamond ring thatâs sole purpose is for a proposal and cannot be worn daily, ridiculously expensive, and advertised as âit will be a once in a lifetime experience). We went in the store and were looking at wedding bands, and the sales rep continued to ask why I wasnât looking at an engagement ring. I explained to her my reasons and simply wished to look for a wedding band that I could cherish for a lifetime. She brought over another sales woman who asked why I wouldnât want an engagement ring when my fiancĂ© is willing to pay. She also made me feel like opting out of an engagement ring somehow devalued my character and marriage. I left the store upset and went to Shane Co, where I was treated with respect and grace. When mentioning I didnât wish for an engagement ring, the sales rep made me feel comfortable with my decision and insisted that engagement rings are necessary only for proposals and if I didnât see myself wearing it often, it will be best to opt out. She helped me choose a beautiful vintage ring that I could see myself appreciate for long time to come.
All in all, I was disappointed with the way sales rep in Jared for the way they only desired to make a sale rather than respecting their customerâs opinion...
