Doshi Sushi has one of the best sushi experiences in Duluth, along with the fact that it’s also a Korean restaurant. The prices may be a little pricey, but the food, service, and the restaurant overall is exceptional. They have little rooms for private parties as well as open seating for smaller groups. I have been to this restaurant many times, and every time I’ve gone has been amazing. Normally, I order one of the special sushi rolls (I highly recommend the Cherry Blossom Roll!), and each time I get it, it tastes amazing. There is also a sushi bar, where you can watch the chefs make the food in front of you, which is cool. I’ve only tried a handful of appetizers here, but every dish is great. The food always comes out steaming hot and everything is made fresh. They have free miso soup and Korean banchan (side dishes) that they serve along with your main meal. Not only do they have sushi, but they also have other Japanese dishes as well. I really enjoyed the udon they have here! The udon here is one of the best in Duluth. They have a variety of dishes so you can pick something else, such as teriyaki chicken and fried rice, if you don’t crave sushi that particular day. When you come in, the ordering process is fairly easy: the servers give you the menu, a piece of paper, and a pencil. You basically just check whatever you want to eat, then they take it. The food comes out pretty fast, so you don’t have to wait too long for the food. The appetizers come out, and the main dishes usually come out a minute or two later depending on what you got. The service is fairly fast and there is almost no wait time. You walk in and they seat you almost immediately. My longest wait time has been 5 minutes at most. The servers here are very nice and try to make the experience as nice as possible. Most of the servers here are more fluent in Korean, so there could be a small language barrier if you don’t know Korean. Despite that, there’s paper ordering so there should be no problem with the language barrier. The restaurant is also set up for both big groups and small groups. They have booths for more of an open space, which looks out to the sushi bar. They also have stools at the sushi bar so you can always see what the chefs are making (I think you see only sushi being made, though). The private rooms range from four seats up to around twelve seats, which is welcoming for all types of parties coming to the restaurant. Every room and booth has a ringer, so if you need to talk to a server, you can just press the button and they’ll help you with whatever you need. The restaurant is a little quiet though since I believe it’s catered towards older people, as the music isn’t blasting at full volume. Although the prices are a little expensive, it’s worth it for all the food you get and the quality of it. For two special sushi rolls and a serving of dumplings, the total comes out to a total of around $40, including the tip. The food is made from fresh ingredients, so I do not blame them for the prices. I absolutely love this place, it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the Duluth area. I’m going to continue going to Doshi Sushi for its great food...
Read moreDoshi Sushi is one my new go-to spots for quality sushi in Duluth. It's located on Old Norcross Rd near Pleasant Hill Rd. It replaced either one or two other similar sushi restaurants that inhabited the same location. I think it's safe to say this one is here to stay.
The interior is very traditional and has lots Japanese inspired influences. The table are setup individually with a sushi bar in the middle surrounded by single tables which themselves are surrounded by private dining rooms that guests can use as well if they want a more intimate setting.
The menu is mostly Japanese based, but there is a mix of Korean options as well so there is sort of a fusion with the options that are offered. The prices are a bit high, but you get a good amount accompanying dishes to make it worth the price. You can see the menu for yourself, so I won't go into too much details there. What you want to know, it's how the quality of the fish when it comes to the sushi and sashimi, and I'll tell you right now, it's high quality and it's definitely fresh and that's hard to say for most of the sushi restaurants in the area.
What I mostly like about this place on top of the quality sashimi, is all the extra side dishes that accompany most meals. They offer these combo packages on the menu, that people should definitely take advantage of especially if you're coming with a party, you get a variety of Japanese and Korean side dishes that ranges from soups, salads, fried fish, tempuras, kimchi, etc. More than I can recall that makes sure you leave feeling extra satisfied. Great variety for sure!
All that being said, definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a quality...
Read moreI saw this place on my friend’s Snapchat and had to immediately ask where the food was from. This place to my surprise is local to me (under .02 miles) Sooo stoked to check this place out, I came here the next day.
Doshi is located between Old Norcross and Satellite intersection and in the same shopping center as Honey Pig.
This restaurant is widespread and the layout is very open. This place also caters to larger parties and they have private rooms to accommodate.
The menu is pretty large. However I am a sashimi lover so my date and I ordered the VIP DELUXE for 2 and a bottle of Sake. This place is Japanese style sushi and I was so excited when all the side dishes came out. We sat across from the sushi chefs so we got to see the chefs use their special techniques to prepare our sashimi. The differences in the reg sashimi platter n the VIP deluxe the the different grades and it was well worth it. My sashimi slices were very thick, and it was very filling for my date and
The staff and management were very attentive and I loved my experience here. I will...
