I’m not even sure where to start, I had to delete some of this review as it was too long. So I’ll cut the crap short. We were seated, ordered beverages and the beer took forever but whatever, it came cold so I was happy. To start our order, we had ordered onion rings and wild rice soup. The onion rings were not the steaming hot crispy ones I had been served for over 20 years. They arrived grease drenched and room temperature, definitely NOT FRESH. We drenched them in both blue cheese and ranch so that was fine. The soup was watery and I have had soup out of a can that tasted better and thick as it should be, for almost $8 a cup of watery soup, is ridiculous. If a place is going to charge that much for a cup of soup, at least make sure it’s decent and of quality, 2 spoons were taken and it was left sit. Our daughter then needed to get up to go to the bathroom and she was in the inside of the booth. I had got up and was halfway out of the booth and she had got up from the booth, but not all of the way out and the damn thing tipped with me falling in!!! I’m not old, if I was, a hip would have been broken and i’m not overweight either so there is no excuse from Grandma’s. HOWEVER…. I have a disc replacement, multiple RFAs on my neck and a fragile back. In order to sit back down, I had to put the damn thing back together so my daughter and I could sit. I am on a weight lifting restriction due to my injury and I can guarantee you that bench weighed more than I was supposed to left, but yet had to fix it myself to sit down!! Reading other reviews, this has been an issue in the past at table 15, we were seated at 45 so it’s not only one booth that has safety issues! They need to be replaced. I can tell you replacement cost for benches is a lot cheaper than a lawsuit. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen! Then our food arrived. Our 11-year-old daughter and I both ordered the chicken tetrazzini and my husband ordered something else. I had cut my chicken breast open and had a piece of it with the pasta. It was room temperature at best, with the breading on the chicken breast being completely soggy, I know it had sat for sometime before being served. Our daughter was fine with her meal as she doesn’t like hot food and doesn’t correlate a high price with quality food. We told the server who took my meal back and said she would send a manager over. Few minutes later the same plate comes back with the cut open chicken breast. Indeed, it was hot the way it should’ve been served FRESH the first place, but the sad thing is, the meal was microwaved!!! It was not a new freshly served plate. It was still my cut open chicken breast that you could tell was completely dried out from the microwave, the ends of the pasta were shriveled and dark. I would not even give this to my dog. But I gave it a shot to try it. By this time, there was no moisture left in the pasta or the sauce and the chicken was dry and rubbery, Completely uncalled for! Bring a fresh made hot plate out, it’s not hard to do that and it’s definitely not hard to do it correct the first time! For over $20 it was a complete disappointment and for the manager not to even acknowledge the issue is no surprise. They took the meal off the bill and brought us a container to bring it home. It was horrible the first time around why would I bring it home and warm it up for the third time, risking food poisoning especially with the chicken and a hurting back! Where is the common sense? So, I left there with no food. Then after a 3 Hour drive back home, I popped some chicken strips from Sam’s Club into my air fryer and they were phenomenal. Now, I’m quite sure I will get a generic response back asking for details. I think I’m quite detailed here on this review. 8/13/25 4:56 pm order # 259772, Table 45 Bill total $82.68. We should’ve went to old Chicago and got the calzone. I would have actually gotten full and probably been satisfied vs. leaving with a back that hurt and no food. Completely unreal and dissatisfied, I will NEVER go back and strongly advise Grandmas to FIX...
Read moreWhen we got there, it was an hour and half wait. Which at the moment was fine due to such a beautiful day out. My party was not there yet and we were able to connect within that time. Finally meeting up with them we spent some time outside by the pier before we went back to the restaurant. When we got back, yet yes somewhat before our suggested time, it was noticed that the "hosting group" were young teenagers. Some were receptive to the guests coming in and telling most quests it was an hour and half wait. Then they resumed being teenagers and ignored everyone but themselves. Though they were working. I will not take that from them. We finally got our seats and were started off with the normal "Can I get your drink". My girlfriend clearly asked for lemons with her water. And was very kind about the asking, and the hostess acknowledged the fact she heard it, but did not get served this. Just simple request. Then the wait. Our server came back 7.5 minutes later and asked if we were ready. We were not at that moment, but just needed a little more time. Mind you the place was slowing down at this point. Our server seemed to give us attitude for this. It took our server over a half hour to come back to us. Even seeing that there were empty glasses on the table. When we finally got our order put in, it felt like "let's hurry up and order" kinda feel. Though when we finally did "get" the attention, it was "warm". Kinda felt fake. Our waitress got it in and didn't see her till the check time. Other "runners" brought us our food. Now the food. I ordered a French dip sandwich with everything on it. (Peppers, fried onions, mushrooms, and cheese for 2.35 extra.). That was the best part of the sandwich. The meat was freezer burnt and it was so bad you could smell it. My girlfriend ordered a chicken raspberry vinegarrette salad that the vinegarrette dressing was so watered down that you couldn't even taste the dressing. I tried it and I barely tasted it. It was a large salad for a small, but the chicken was dry and the dressing seemed like it was watered down to make it last. I have only had food this bad once before after five times at this location. Most times I have had a great experience. But it seems like the fame of the name has started to make them lose interest in thier quality. Which is a shame. I would expect this establishment to have a high quality every meal they serve. I'm not trying to slame this great place, but when you notice their cooks outside "smoking extra smelly" smokes, you wonder if quality is considered. I really wouldn't consider going...
Read moreIt's been a few years since we've eaten at Grandma's as we are not from Duluth. My daughter's boyfriend had never eaten, or been to Grandma's before and we were excited to take him. We were there for dinner on 7/26/25. When we were seated, on the bar side, in a booth, I was scooting over on the bench seat, as my husband would be sitting next to me, and the whole seat broke and came off, with me landing on the floor. I was stuck between the bench seat and some tall stools next to our table, until my daughter's boyfriend moved them so that I could get out. 2 men from a neighboring table hopped up right away to help. Our waiter didn't help. I don't know if it was a manager that came over to try to fix it, and 2 girls, but they were giggling, on their phones and whispering to each other. And the guy said it's happened to him before and they are old and it just happens. We moved to the next booth over. Then, after they were messing with it some more, they said, it should be fine as long as they don't sit on the right corner. Then they sat another, older couple there. I am in my 60's and didn't think I would be ending up on the floor of Grandma's last night. It was a good thing it wasn't my daughter, who is pregnant. And what was very disappointing was, not one person apologized. If I would have been the manager, I would have been right there making sure that everything was alright. To top off the night, my daughter and I ordered the chicken pot pie, and we both got food poisoning. Needless to say, we will not be going back there as there are so many more wonderful choices, like OMC (who have wonderful food and...
