Going to Angie's every summer is a tradition for us. Since we missed this (and last) summer, we visited yesterday while in town. It was awful! Starting with having to wipe all the crumbs off the seat in the both we were given. First of all, prices have skyrocketed! You don't even get chips and salsa for free anymore, like you do at every other tex-mex place in the states. So we passed. We ordered coffee to drink. Got one cup, no half and half (they were out) so only flavored creamer. No refills at all even tho we both had our cups at the end of the table and the waiter clearly saw they were empty. No waters either! Since prices are crazy here ($24 for steak fajitas, plus an extra 5 dollars for beans and rice!), we decided to split a meal. The food was delivered to our table by a woman dressed differently than the wait staff, so probably a manager? You know how when you order fajitas they come out hot, sizzling and steaming? None of that happened here. The hot plate was warm, but we touched the steak and it was ice cold! Not lukewarm. COLD. The veggies did not look freshly grilled, but rather as if they'd be sitting. Very watery. We ordered pinto beans, we were given black beans. They were only kind of warm. Rice was a pile of mush, not fresh. We told the waiter and he took the meat and veggies away and brought "new" which was the same plate slightly warmed up. We were given the right beans, but they were barely warm and hard. It was not busy either. Quality here has completely dropped from good to horrible. We were given a slight discount on our bill for the "issue". If this was my restaurant I would have been more generous with the discount, and mortified at what was served. We ate what we could as we hate wasting food. I hope we don't get sick! 2 cups of black coffee was over 8 dollars as well. Ridiculous. We'll never be back or recommend this place, there are way better options in Canal Park.

Have visited Duluth a few times and have been wanting to try Angie’s, finally did and I don’t recommend. I ordered chicken fajitas because it said on the menu it was a “house specialty”. There wasn’t anything really special about them. Chicken was dry and there were 6 small pieces cut up. It seemed like the chicken had been microwaved for the 5th time before serving it. Onions and peppers were good, but it’s not that hard to cook peppers and onions. The food was just very Americanized. If you’re looking for Mexican food, look the other way. I got a side of rice and beans for an extra $3. The beans tasted and looked like they went to the grocery store and bought a can of black beans, dumped them out on the plate, cooked them in the microwave, and served them. The rice was mushy-nothing like Mexican rice-probably because they didn’t fry the rice before adding the water and boiling it. Chipotle has better rice than they did. Margaritas were good, but the food outweighed the drinks. Would recommend if you’re looking to be completely disappointed.also our bill ended up being $86 for a price range for a couple.

A 'One & Done place' for us. Should’ve been weary after hostess put our menus on a very WET Table, getting the menus very wet on one side, and why was the table so wet in the 1st place? It was CLEAN, the lazy person just didn’t DRY it, so simple. I didn’t notice until sitting down and picking up my menu. MOVED our stuff to the Next booth, waved the menus several minutes to dry them off, saw the Prices were pretty high, higher by 30% at least compared to good Mexican restaurants in Apple Valley, Burnsville, & Eagan.

Waiter comes by, looking sleepy or depressed? VERY mellow, no smile, sleepy? Orders our drinks, comes by later for the order, STILL sleepy and No facial expression, NO smile, maybe something tragic happened recently? If so bad, shouldn’t be working that day, if like this ALL the time, shouldn’t be in retail, ESPECIALLY a SERVING industry like a Restaurant in a busy, tourist area near Canal St. in Duluth, MN.

Food was pretty tasty, got a lot so maybe justified the higher prices a bit. But after we got our To-Go containers, figured he knew we were DONE EATING, but waiting 5 min’s to get a bill, waiting more time off course to get the receipt to sign, even though see him bringing items to two more tables … hmmm.... Why are we waiting? I'm about to go ask front counter about it then he shows up, wife & I see it DOESN’T LOOK LIKE OUR RECEIPT, it was for the couple NEXT to us, but he had RUN it already.

While waiting for Front Desk to do something, turns out the TWO of them and a trainee didn’t KNOW WHAT TO DO, so I ask to see the Manager (Mark I think) to at least complain about the waiter and mix-up, he looks at me in wonder as if to say, “So?” Wow. I said I wasn’t looking for reimbursement and was going to state how the waiters lack of friendly politeness or lack of ANY SMILE or energy shows he's NOT a good fit for the job, but this manager on Sep 6 just didn’t seem to care.

We waited about 15 MINUTES at the counter for it to be resolved. Cant believe how INCOMPETENT the staff is there, AND the lack of compassion or concern by the waiter AND the manager. NEVER going there again. Bet they make GOOD $$$ from other visitors, especially college students. Going to tell at LEAST 5 people how this place sucks. If you had a good experience there, consider yourself LUCKY!!! Back to Fast-food or a place near by we KNOW is good, Black Wood Bar & Grille. EXCELLENT Food, Staff, & Service EVERY TIME we go.

  • UPDATE * Since our visit to Little Angie's Cantina in Duluth on 6 Sep with a PENDING CHARGE of $51.33, and a PROMISE it would not CLOSE OUT, (The Correct couple PAID their meal, and we paid ours after 15 mins of waiting) on 9 Sep the Pending amount changed on my wife's credit card to a CHARGE for $60.33 for the OTHER COUPLES meal (a $9 tip added apparently) even though they ALREADY PAID FOR IT that day - we watched them! My wife called her BANK to file a DISPUTE for the $60.33 charge by Little Angie's Cantina on 6 Sep.

You can see the slim apology below, but what is that worth if they STILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!! How pathetic. Never anything offered for our troubles, just a lame apology. Avoid this place whenever possible, and go to ANY of the fast-food places. At least they wont be DOUBLE-CHARGING YOU or giving you...

We always stop at Little Angie's on our trips to Duluth. We've seen the food quality and the crowds decline over the past couple of years. But we've kept returning. But after this weekend's visit, there is nothing that would convince us to go back. Not with so many great dining options in Duluth. Our bartender was awful. I think she would have rather been getting a root canal than waiting on customers. That's how put-out she appeared. She literally tossed menus in front of us and said, "what do you want" when we sat down. It was 7:30pm on a Friday, and there were maybe 5 other people at the bar and no tables that we could see. She brought us a margarita that was just pure mix. I understand pre-batching margaritas, but this was straight from the cheap Mr. T's bottle from a liquor store. A food runner brought us our queso, with no plates, napkins or silverware. And the bartender never checked on us and was too busy visiting with her friends at the bar who were very loudly telling stories about how drunk they were the night before. My husband went and got plates and utensils from the hostess. Then our entrees came out, and still she had not checked on us. The food here used to be fantastic. This food was cafeteria quality at best and ABSURDLY over priced. $12 for cheap chips and velveeta queso? $19 for a Chimichanga??? The "guacamole" was what you would get from a pouch. It was inedible. And my favorite part... The Service Charge!! Yay!! It is not your customers' responsibility to help you pay your kitchen staff more. First of all, the food was not good. Second of all, if they don't think they make enough, that problem falls to the restaurant ownership. And, you put the service charge in the bill above the total line so it's included in the total check amount. So now I am expected to TIP on a service charge you are forcing on me? What? In what world does that make sense? Make me pay a fee, then ask me to leave a tip on tip of the fee? And putting a disclaimer about how "if we're not happy with our food, we can always speak with someone." We couldn't even get silverware, and now you want me to talk to the awful bartender about my food quality? A disclaimer on a table tent doesn't erase the fact that it's not a customers job to pay your staff. We're already paying your high food prices. Also, your chips and salsa were kept behind the bar and the salsa was in a metal container over a bucket of ice. Gross. The health department would give you a big "no" on that one. I see a lot of reviews with the same issues, and your generic response of "passing on the concern." Well, based on your Friday night crowd, pretty soon the customer concerns won't matter because you won't have any...

My wife and I came here a few years ago. We really did enjoy it and the atmosphere is still popping. The waitress we had today (we were sitting outside, ground level) she was fine, no issue at all with her. Although I do believe when there is an issue such as food not being prepared properly, the managers should have them trained to get them so problems can be fixed.

My problem here was the food. My wife ordered chicken fajita’s, i ordered the burrito and we both had water for drinking. With tip $59. The fajita’s were stone cold, almost like they left it out after cooking it or maybe even microwaved it, who knows. The tortillas were hard, obviously stale. My Burrito tasted like when you buy that taco seasoning mix and make your own tacos at home. Thats what the beef burrito tasted like.

The chips and salsa were very good. That was all that i liked. The salsa was very good and you could tasre the cilantro. The salsa was the best, like it was made from scratch. What confuses me is that the rest of the food doesnt fall in line with the salsa. I am quite puzzled. Its almost like they make the salsa so good and out in effort but they slack on everything else. This place could be so much better with proper mexican cuisine but its a confusing fluff of a mess when the least expensive item that cost $3.50 is better than your $20 meals.

Look, for the price this costed us, these things shouldn’t be a common occurrence and when I read these past reviews, a lot of the issues do fall in line with what we experienced food wise. Also, this is prime dinner time (5:00pm saturday evening), there really is no excuses and I for one will not do business with this restaurant again. The owner should be taking this seriously. You don’t want your restaurant to be a place where people just end up, you want it to be a place people want to go. I, as of right now, consider this restaurant a tourist trap. High prices for just tossed on a grill food ahead of time and sitting around till someone orders it. The drinks looked very good but thats all. ...
