If you don't know what the specials are, the staff aren't going to tell you. when we walked in, there was way vtoo many people standing behind the counter, doing absolutely nothing. first words spoken to us were "are you sitting, or going to the bar?" Are we not allowed to sit at the bar? we get seated, then I ask about happy hour, I am told you can only get them in the BAR AREA.. you mean that area that's literally ten feet away from us? we didn't know, and it's not like it's advertised or anyone told us. Our server did not ask if we would like to relocate to the bar area to take advantage of these special prices that exist only in a magical land, ten feet to my right. the goblin King placed a spell that prevents any sale prices from existing beyond the immediate vacinity of the bar. so it's full price drinks and full price appetizers for us. The table was pretty beat up, which really gives it a dirty, worn look. when i opened my menu, it was sticky. it was very sticky. it was like this menu had been used to smash down taffy, then doubled as a menu in it's spare time. there was also a bug inside my menu, also smashed, so that was nice. I had a really hard time finding anything I wanted; they have 3 burger choices, mostly pasta, and a whole bunch of pizza. this place seems like it tried to copy both old Chicago and the olive garden, but can't quite get it right. I couldn't really find anything I wanted to eat, so I just got the flatbread, I think it was the"diablo chicken" or something. the food was ok, not great. mine was mostly chicken and a bunch of cilantro, which is fine,i like cilantro. the food just really is ok, nothing spectacular and nothing you can't get better, across the street at old Chicago. this place was pretty empty from 5-6 pm on a Friday, which seems strange to me, shouldn't people be out on a Friday? I guess they heard about the smashed bugs in the menus and the less than helpful staff. I had not been to this place in a couple of years, now I remember why I don't come here. do yourself a favor, if you're already on the other side of the street, don't bother crossing to come see this place.

I hope this means something. First, I have to say, Duluth was hyped so much from almost everyone I talked to in MN. I found it, the city and it's other bar offerings to be less than satisfactory. Honestly several were confrontational. But I kept coming back to Green Mill, a chain restaurant, which I typically, like, always avoid. (This is somewhat impartial because they carry Dos Equis) But Chris was absolutely fantastic behind the bar. He makes it evident, this is his profession, not just a job and it resonates well. It was a pleasant surprise despite the majority of other stops throughout town. Chris is absolutely a diamond in the rough here in Duluth, visit him and tell him hi for me.

Less than impressed. Hostess lady stared at us while she was on the phone (could have easily given us the universal "hold on a second" hand signal or something). Waitress or secondary hostess that was shuffling menus behind her finally stood up and asked us 'how many?' No "hey, how are you?" or "welcome" or anything. Took us to our table, where we waited. And then waited some more. Our waiter (Jaysen?) finally showed up 10-15 minutes later and apologized for the delay. He saved the evening for us - we were ready to leave, but his smile kept us in our seats. He kept checking on us and kept our water full. Food was pretty good, though not so magical that I long to return. Visit if you like. ;)

We were a group of 9: 3 kids and 6 adults ordering pizzas. Drink orders were taken and delivered fine. Food order was taken after 20 minutes after we received beds. Our waitress went to 2 other tables multiple times before coming to take our order. While waiting for our food the waitress went to the other tables multiple times AGAIN w/o checking on us. I had to flag her down to get her to tell her to bring one child's order of garlic toast right away. She said she would get it as it was ready and then proceeded to the other tables. AGAIN. We had to flag the hostess down to find out why the food was taking so long. She mentioned 2 cooks called out so the kitchen was backed up. When the kids pizzas were ready 45 minutes after they ordered, the waitress asked if we wanted them "early". We said yes. She immediately went to the other tables AGAIN! When the rest of the order came out we had to ask for napkins and re-fills on beverages. She took 3 glasses, ref-illed without putting fresh ice in the glasses. We had to ask for the kids pop to be re-filled. Then, separately, have to ask for re-fills for 2 more of our party. She didn't even get clean glasses for any of us. As for paying the bill, she took the credit card, brought it back but didn't bring a receipt to be signed. The hostess had to complete the transaction. Either this waitress wasn't trained very well, or she is in the wrong job, either way- not a good look for...

My fiancé and I took a trip with his brother and a good friend of ours to Duluth and further north to do some hiking and site seeing. Enjoy the outdoors. We decided on our way back we would stop to grab a bite to eat at Green Mill because I have not been to this location. Let me tell you how great the employees are. They sat us down and our server came and greeted us. Took our orders and kept checking on us to make sure we were OK while we waited for our food. The manager Nicole came to our table and asked who got the calzone and I said I did. She explained that the first one didn't turn out how it was suppose to and that the cooks had to remake it. Apologized and said it would be right out. This was exceptional service on her part because I've never in a long time seen any manager now a days make the effort to correct the problem before there would be any. Nicole took care of the issue and made sure to keep us in the loop. That is the best service we have ever received and it proves she cares for the guests that shows up along with making sure her servers aren't getting the short end of the stick from this experience. It was great service and I will never forget this. Thank you so much for your...
