Absolutely loved our visit to The Wired Whisker in Duluth! As seasoned cat cafe enthusiasts—this was our 20th cat cafe across the nation—I can confidently say this place exceeded our expectations.
From the moment we walked in, the cozy sitting area welcomed us with open arms. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing with a group of friends. We had a total of fourin our party, and the layout provided ample space for us to enjoy our drinks while also getting to know the adorable feline residents.
Speaking of drinks, the selection was fantastic! Whether you’re in the mood for a rich coffee or a refreshing tea, they’ve got you covered. It made our experience even better to sip on our beverages while watching the cats play and lounge around. We also got a few baked goods to take after our visit with the cats, and really enjoyed them. Also, I love that they had merchandise you could purchase too.
The cats themselves were absolutely delightful—super social and cuddly! It was clear they’re well-loved and cared for, which made our time with them even more enjoyable. We appreciated the staff's dedication to their mission of getting these wonderful cats adopted. The employees were incredibly friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience as they shared stories about each cat.
We visited on a weekend, and while it was busy, everything was well organized. I highly recommend booking your session in advance if you want to spend time with the cats, as it can fill up quickly. If you just want to stop in for drinks and view the cats through the window, there's no need to book ahead of time. Even if you're not visiting the cats, stopping in and purchasing drinks supports the animals, which leaves you feeling really good.
Overall, The Wired Whisker is a gem among cat cafes! With its commitment to animal welfare, great drinks, and a cozy atmosphere, it’s definitely a must-visit for cat lovers. We left with big smiles and hearts full of joy, already planning...
Read moreI really don’t get the hype. I rate it 2 stars due to paying $10 for me and a friend to watch 2 teenagers take selfies nonstop with the cats and for them to scroll on their phones while trying to put the cats in a corner for for a whole 45 minutes. They were also feeding the cats human food from the cafe. These teen girls didn’t want no one else to pet the cats and was trying to control them by blocking the area where they should walk. I sat in the left corner basically watching them take selfies with the cat nonstop and being self absorbed on their phones for an hour. First of all where are the parents? I couldn’t even engage with the cats. I didn’t expect to pay for this nonsense. You would think this would be a therapeutic place for people to enjoy the cats and be in the “moment” but it’s all about taking selfies nonstop, scrolling on cellphones, and hogging the cats to themselves. I don’t get why they would put teenage girls in the booking process that were controlling and blocking the cats on where they should go where their legs and arms. Yet the cafe are worried about little children? The manager of the cafe should of said something. But she was no where to be found, which wasn’t surprising. I didn’t like the vibe in that place. I don’t know why they would book multiple people in a group of 6 when they should book individual’s instead. Very disappointed in the booking process. Overall experience wasn’t worth it for a petting zoo. If you want to see cats in person for free just go to animal allies humane society, Lake county humane society, and warm fuzzy animal rescue to see cats and kittens. So you don’t have to pay $5 to wait and you won’t have to deal with people that Ruin it in your booking group for the experience. Like hogging the cats, with taking countless of selfies and scrolling on...
Read moreFINALLY, Duluth gets a cat cafe, and Wired Whisker is doing it right. We'll talk cafe first: the coffee drinks have been well-crafted every time I've been there, the spinach Danish (just get it, seriously) is a flaky, cheesy, spinachy treat, and the desserts are on point. There's loads of merch to purchase, not only branded for the cafe but also from small businesses, which I LOVE.
Now for the cats. They're in their own room, past the kitty airlock (two doors, making it easy to catch any possible 4-legged escapees). They have multiple cat trees, nesting boxes, a One Fast Cat, and loads of toys. You're allowed to play with the cats, pet them, etc. There are rules against picking the cats up (which I approve of, actually) or trapping them in one spot, but if a cat decides of its own volition that it wants to hop up onto your lap, that's awesome! All of the cats are adoptable, and we actually witnessed that magic happen when I was there for my birthday. One couple decided that they'd fallen enough in love with one of the felines that they were going to bring him home. YAY!
Yes, they charge a fee to visit the cat room, but it's not huge. You should, however, book in advance (easy to do on their website), because the room's 1-hour blocks book up quickly. Still, it's so worth your time. And even if you don't have a full hour to spend, there are a couple of tables in the back of the cafe where you can sit in front of the full windows into the cat room and just watch them be the goofy, lovely creatures that they are. Maybe you'll find a new forever...
