On 2/8/25 me and my wife went shopping for healthy foods at Superone Plaza in East Duluth MN. I used my Care+Medicare Healthy Benefits card which had $75 balance on it. I get this money due to having extremely high cholesterol and being prediabetic. The cashier rang it all up at the register and ran my Healthy Benefits card, which covered about 54 dollars, but there was 13 dollars that it did not cover, so I asked if I could go grab my wallet out of the car to pay the difference. They said sure and suspended my ordered. Upon my return they said they had to run my card again, so they did, but this time it took only 21ish dollars off. Well that was because I only had 21 dollars left on my account after they ran the $54, as I only had $75 on my balance. I tried explaining this to the manager Joe on duty but Joe acted very prideful and condescending telling me they never received the money. I even called the # on the back of my Healthy benefits card and they even talked to Joe on my phone personally and tried to explain to him that the transactions were already completed. Joe would not listen to them, me or even read what was on the receipt. I had to leave without any healthy groceries that day. I ended up not getting a choice to eat healthier food that evening and ate the only thing available to me that eve, which was pasta from the Salvation Army. I ended up having a severe and very painful gallbladder attack that evening. I came to the store the next morning to show Orion (another manager) that the money never got put back on my card. O'rion was understanding and tried to be helpful and was gonna try and give me a partial refund so I could get some groceries until resolved, but prideful Joe told him "no" and smirked at me. I got a little heated at Joe and lost my temper a little bit and said some unkind words as I walked out the door, but it was after feeling like I was stolen from and had a medical issue as a result of his actions as a manager. I actually have a B.S. Degree in Applied management from Grand Canyon University, as well as owned a successful business in Duluth before becoming medically disabled, and I can tell you this treatment of a citizen and customer would've not been tolerated by me. I do believe in forgiveness, so I am not wanting to hurt Joe but rather hope he can get better trained in how to manage people effectively. I called SuperOne Corporate offices today and they took responsibility and accountability for the transaction not being done appropriately by their staff. They gave me $25 bucks extra for the hassle, which was a nice gesture. But I guess the biggest concern I have is that this doesn't happen to others, especially to others who are sick and depending on certain food in that moment to be healthy. I had to wait the entire weekend to get resolved because they said I had to call corporate offices (Miners Inc.) which weren't open until Monday today. So all my food money was held until today and I could not leave the store with any groceries all weekend. So come on SuperOne Foods, can you maybe teach your managers how to be more humane or establish some consumer polices that will prevent this from happening again in the future. This review is not being left in haste, but in respect, to effect change and not cause destruction.
Sincerely,
Shawn and Megan Flaten (Repeated...
Read moreMisleading price on product. Today I saw the in-store brand of four packaged sausage/brats with a bright red sign "As Advertised" advertising they were "88 cents each" (see in attached photo). Wow, I thought, good deal, so I grabbed four packages of the "As Advertised 88 cents each". I go to check out and the packages of brats ring up as $3.52 per package; turns out the 88 cents is per link, not per package (88 cents x 4 = $3.52). I complained during check out, in store, they even brought an employee from the meat department up to the check out area; I asked him "Don't you think that is misleading, shady marketing?" to which he answered "No. We can't sell individual links so we advertise them as the price per link". But nowhere on the bright red 88 cents sign does it say "per link", it just says "each". Any ordinary consumer would think, as I did, that the "88 cents each" meant the package, not per link. This is not the first time I have encountered this sort of advertising at Super One...
Read moreThis super one is the worst in duluth. I've twice had to wait in the parking lot for police to arrive to give a police report. the first time a customer stole a whole cart of groceries, jumped into a car and proceeded to hit a pedestrian in the parking lot. The second time a stolen vehicle hit another vehicle in the parking lot and they just got out and ran away... There are always homeless people begging aggressively in the parking lots here (one of which told me he makes 200+ a day begging here). I will not let my wife go to this grocery store alone it is not safe at all. My other complaint is that quality has continued to go down hill and prices have skyrocketed. Low quality meats. Grab and go items are literally inedible (I've had to throw fried chicken and a sandwich away). I often find expired produce as well. If you're interested in paying sky-high prices for low quality and bad selection in a dangerous environment this is the right grocery...
