TLDR - bowl of sushi and healthy veggies and Asian flavor at a low price. Helpful staff, friendly to people who don't like sushi or spicy and/or know nothing about poké. Mochi ice cream and bubble tea.
"What the --- is Poké?" we asked as we drove past many times. It is not in fact a portable monster friend, not in this case. It's a bowl full of sushi, rice, and other delicious Asian veggies and sauces. Hawaiian sushi I think is the backstory. This is a "pick your ingredients in line at the counter, watch them build it, and pay" kind of restaurant, like a deli with sushi and yummy soy bowls.
I've been told I'm picky, but really I just don't like spicy food. Spicy was an option, but those choices were clearly marked so that I didn't have to worry even though I can't even handle black pepper.
They specialize in sushi but also had chicken (in spicy and not spicy varieties) and tofu. The staff was very helpful with explaining add-ons I wasn't familiar with, and at less than $10 a bowl, it's well priced.
Every option is healthy but flavorful; you CAN order kale noodles with kale leaves, but you can also fill a bowl with fish and cucumber and other greens, hold the oils, and feel just as good about that mochi ice cream afterward. I'd recommend this for anyone looking to eat healthier but not sacrifice flavor. Even the larger bowls are much better for you than the same amount of food elsewhere. It seems the only difference between the sizes is how much protein you get anyway.
They also do bubble tea... Fancy that!
4 stars is for good food for the price; 5 stars at this location is for how helpful the staff was with...
Read moreI do not live around here so it was my first time here, i have had Poké quite often, never in my life have I been served an entire scoop of cilantro stems before. The inside of this place looks very dingy, low lighted and doesn’t seem like the cleanest environment. They could really do well with an entire renovation of the store. The proteins look almost inedible, they do not look fresh …at. All. Especially the spicy tuna, holy crap did that look disgusting..The man that welcomed me when I walked in (assuming he’s the owner or manager) was very pushy and rushed me while also not even listening to me as I speak, I also was the only person in line so there was no reason to rush me so hard. I over heard him talking to the guy that worked there and quite literally ripped food he was currently putting together for a Togo order right from out of his hands and put it on the table behind him by the trash can. I feel so bad for that young kid that works there and if the owner or manager doesn’t start treating him better I’m sure he’s going to be working there alone. The guy asked me if I wanted the free miso soup , I obliged and as he made it he dropped the lid in the trash and stuck his hand in the trash as if he was going to pick it up, and then proceeded to put his hand that was all in the trash all over EVERY OTHER lid and put the lid on the soup. When you think of Poke’ you think of light, cold food, the rice was so hot it pretty much cooked my protein in the bowl. It was just god awful. I would never go back And I went and got lunch...
Read morePoke has always been intriguing and I was fortunate to try it for the first time at Poke Bar. When you walk in it has a very clean, modern and sleek environment. The employees are ready with a smile and never get impatient when asked many questions. The bowl system goes like this:
Small: 1 scoop base (white/brown rice, spring mix, kale, nachos or even half and half), 2 scoops of protein (salmon, albacore tuna, spicy tuna, shrimp, scallops, octopus), 2 sides (seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, cucumber salad), sauces and unlimited toppings. Medium: 2 scoops base, 3 protein Large: 3 scoops base, 4 protein
I ordered the medium and it was plenty! The food is extremely filling and amazingly fresh. There was no fishy odor or odd after taste. I had white rice with salmon, albacore tuna and spicy tuna. My sauces were spicy mayo and the house sauce along with sides of seaweed salad and cucumber salad. To top it off I had crispy garlic, seaweed for the rice, ginger, corn and cilantro. It was beautifully prepared and the customer service was exceptional. The food was worth the price, mine was a total of $11.61. The parking is tight but around the corner it opens up to a larger parking lot.
Must try Poke Bar if you're interested in trying Poke for the first time or if you an avid lover...
