Visited Applebees in Duncanville, TX on Tuesday night at 8:30 pm on Nov 7, 2017.

I should have known my experience was gonna be less than stellar by the way we were not greeted by the hostess when we walked in. For a minute we thought it was self serve seating until the hostess turned around from chatting with co-workers to take care of us.

My date & I opted for the 2 for $25 option.

For starters their salads were delicious. Until I tasted the grit from a dirty piece of lettuce. But it was towards the end of my salad so it didn't interrupt most of my salad experience. I just so happened to notice a woman walk by who looked like she might be the manager. So I waived her down & she came over. I asked her what her position here was & she indicated that she was indeed the manager. I suggested to her that as she walking thru the restaurant she should check on her customers and make sure everything is going smoothly. I then told her about the dirty lettuce and to please advise her staff to be sure to thoroughly wash the lettuce. I told her I wasnt requesting a refund or even that my salad be re-made. Just fix the problem.

She ordered the steak with mashed potatoes & broccoli with cheese added over the broccoli. As soon as the waiter brought it to the table he noticed the cheese was on the mashed potatoes instead of the broccoli. But turned out to be a good mistake so she kept it like that. A thoughtful waiter would have double checked the food order before bringing it out. But I digress.

I ordered the sirloin stir fry and it came out drowned in teriyaki sauce (they call it dumpling sauce) so it was overwhelmingly too tangy. The steak was tough and the rice was dried out & hard. What cook would put this mess on a plate. I'm curious as to who they have working in their kitchen & do they have any oversight. I'm guessing that maybe the cook was high or drunk.

So I sent it back & changed my order to the 6 oz steak with 2 sides like my date had.

My steak was ordered medium well. Came out well done. I think thats the only way most people order their steaks here. Needless to say I waited a while for them to re-cook my steak. They offered no steak sauces and it took another 15 minutes.

I noticed a few tables in my area all have issues. One was given the wrong ticket and it was brought to their attention after they paid for it with the on table kiosk machine.

The waiter walked by another table and asked the patron something about his order and the customer told him that he had already given him instruction about that. Needless to say he was a bit peeved about it. The waiter quickly obliged him and went back to his menu kiosk to verify the instructions. Then for some odd reason he offered the irritated customer free deserts.

I would wager to say this restaurant is losing a lot of money on food and bad service. Apparently they must make the bulk of their money on drinks.

I can tell this store is in need of a major overhaul. Trash all over the place on the floor, in the bathroom, swept up just sitting in the entrance to the kitchen, etc. Everyone just seems too relaxed & no one cares about the customer. Everyone is waiting for the next man to step up instead of each one stepping up...

This past Thursday, October 16, 2025 after a long exhaustive and mentally challenging day. I decided to take some me time, chill and have dinner while watching Thursday night NFL Football game in a booth in the bar seating area. Ms. Ieashe was my waitress and provided very efficient and timely service. I paid for my food. I bagged up my food, left the restaurant, drove 15 minutes to my home.

Once I arrived home and was preparing to get out of vehicle, I checked for my wallet, looked in my middle console and noticed my wallet was not in it! I panicked and practically ransacked my vehicle looking for my wallet! I called Applebee's and the GM Geo informed me that Ms. Ieashe had turned my wallet into the office! I arrived back at the restaurant and discovered all of my personal items and cash was still as it was as I last recalled! Very rare, but not unusual!

Thank God there are still Honest individuals like Ms. Ieashe! We all know being a restaurant server is not the most highest paying and glamorous jobs! Especially as most dinners do not tip the wait staff they should! I alawys do above and beyond the 20% regardless of the cost of my meal! God have people in places and positions who take care of his own, even in our weakest and most exhaustive times of our days or nights!

Thank you Ms. Ieashe and the entire Applebee's Management and staff for all that you do day in and day out in order to ensure your customers have a Great and Enjoyable Dining Experience! Dr. Darren L. Reagan

My partner and I visited on a Friday evening and were initially seated near the bar. When our server arrived, I asked a simple question about the drink buckets, and she responded with an attitude as if I was inconveniencing her. The music was loud, and I could barely hear her, but she rudely told me, “you have to share those.” I responded that it was fine. She asked for our IDs, which is completely understandable, but before my partner could even pull his out, she snapped, “if you don’t have it, I can’t serve you.” He calmly explained he was just getting it out.

She then examined my ID for an unusually long time, glancing between it and me repeatedly as if the photo didn’t match, which felt very uncomfortable. Since we were still deciding on drinks, I asked for water so she could continue with other tables. When she returned with the waters, I asked about the drink bucket flavors. She handed us the waters, said “hold on,” and walked off abruptly. After several minutes with no return or follow-up, we asked to be seated elsewhere due to the poor customer service.

Thankfully, once we were moved, the service significantly improved. However, while checking someone out, our original server saw us and loudly commented, “Y’all moved, I was trying to bring y’all the drink paper,” then started singing and cursing along with the music—highly unprofessional behavior in a public setting.

The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because the hostess who seated us was very kind and our new waitress was attentive. Unfortunately, the experience with the first server completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable night, and I won’t be returning to...
