I visited this restaurant after church with my family. The restaurant was not busy with 1 server taking care of a 10 top and an unassuming hostess who did not appear to want to be helpful. Nonetheless she sat the 3 of us in an area where there were no other patrons and informed us the name of our server. Several minutes later 2 others were sat at a table directly behind us and 5 minutes later another 2 people sat at a different table. During none of this time were we met with “ I’ll be right with you, can I get you waters or we do not want to serve you please leave.” The server came went to the 2 people who came in last to take their drink order, then went to the 2 that came in several minutes behind us taking their drink and food order. She left and returned to the last 2 individuals and began taking their order and still we had not been addressed by anyone. Meanwhile the hostess was cleaning a few tables that had been used saw me look her way and never addressed the server to inform her that we were the first table to come in and had been waiting. It was at this point we decided to leave. Shortly after leaving for a different establishment nearby I returned to address the manager who acknowledged seeing us sitting there, but was unaware we had not been taken care of. The issue with my conversation with him was his nonchalant attitude towards bringing this breakdown in service to his attention. If the service (front of the house) is bad and the manager is working in the kitchen (back of the house) then I’d be careful...
Read moreMy family and I recently visited Mudhook at their new location, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. While we always aim to support local businesses, we found the restaurant to be not very family-friendly.
Upon arriving, we were directed to sit wherever we liked and chose the patio. It took quite some time for anyone to greet us and take our drink and appetizer orders. Our server, Skye, was kind but seemed distracted, which impacted the overall service.
The appetizers—pretzel bites and truffle fries—were just okay. The truffle fries had an overwhelming amount of Parmesan, which felt unnecessary. Additionally, the lid on my drink was broken, and getting a replacement took another 20 minutes.
After waiting nearly an hour with no sign of our entrees, we asked for the remaining food to be boxed up and the check to be brought out. However, Skye informed us that our order was still five tickets behind and would take a while longer. Frustrated, we ended up canceling the rest of our order and leaving disappointed.
Mudhook has potential, and we truly want to see them succeed as a local business, but this experience has left us reluctant to return anytime soon. We hope they can address these issues and improve their service for...
Read moreI am not going to give a bad review: I have been supporting since the opening of Black and Bitter. I love seeing our small businesses thrive.
Our server was super sweet. But.. ordered a coffee and the restaurant had no creamer? And I had to ask for sugar and a spoon to stir with. Got milk, no big deal. The little things add up. And this is on a Saturday.
The quality of the food is also not what I remember. I remember when I went to MudHook in Duncanville the first time - I distinctly remember the fries were crazy. The burgers were really good. I have been to the Hillside location four or five times, other than the little side of homestyle potatoes, nothing has really won me over. The french toast is just OK. The burgers are just OK. The fries are still good.
The issue for me is the value proposition - there is nothing bad here, but nothing I have tried is better than somewhere else. The French Toast is better at Dick’s. The burgers are better elsewhere as well.
If the menu is logistically hard to stock, then just simplify. Pick something you are really good at, and just do that. But nothing is more disappointing than coming over and paying for food that is just OK and not having the essentials down.
Much love. Hope things...
