Read moreCasual atmosphere with indoor or outdoor seating available. We had a reservation for 9 and upon arriving our table was already prepared and ready with menus and utensils. Making a reservation was easy and the hostess was very friendly. We had to add an additional party member to our reservation but it was totally fine and they accommodated. Heather was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. Upon seating she greeted us and took our drink orders despite not all of our party being present. She also kept coming back to ensure we were doing ok. Best service we've had in a very long time. She's definitely focused on the customer experience! She even made recommendations on the menu items which were spot on! You'll definitely want to try the calamari and jalapeño poppers. Wow! The calamari has a light breading and they are very fresh and juicy, not dry. The jalapeño poppers are not breaded and deep fried--they are actually sliced in half and baked with cream cheese and bacon. Absolutely the best poppers I've had!
For dinner, we had a variety of food -- I had the peel and eat shrimp (hot) which was very delicious. The garlic butter sauce that it's served in is amazing. My husband had the hogfish (blackened) which was very good, fish that basically melted in your mouth. It was served with hush puppies which were very good, especially with hot sauce, and green beans. We also had the shrimp and grits, the surf and turf which was served with collard greens (OMG good), catfish, salad, and ahi tuna. My daughter got the kids Mac and cheese that we sent back because it was very bland then exchanged it for chicken tenders which were also no good they were also bland they needed more seasoning.Everyone else's meals were excellent!! Heather made the experience great and even took the kids meal off the tab, which we never even expected but nice that it was done in an effort to correct the issue.
Highly recommend!! We will definitely be back.

Read moreA big shout out to the Hog Island Fish Camp of Dunedin. We have been coming to the area for over 25 years, I’ve owned here for over 20 but as a commercial fisherman and “fish snob” I don’t go to restaurants and order fish. I’m much too particular about the fish I eat and have fish 3-6 days a week. On a recommendation I came Thursday for the first time for happy hour for a cold craft beer and their Grouper nuggets and fresh fries basket. Needless to say I returned last with Dad, Mom and our neighbor for more of the same. In a crowded restaurant that is so much more than I expected from passing by for years, we were seated in just a few short minutes, waited on rather quickly and served by Matt and the the kitchen staff with a kind friendly manner that was most appreciated. Two different people in management stopped by our table asking if everything was acceptable and if we needed anything. The food was first rate and as a cook and fisherman I could tell that not only was the fish fresh, it was perfectly prepared and cooked in fresh hot oil. The little things make the difference and we will be regulars now. The place takes reservations (recommended) is dog friendly with the usual rules. I haven’t yet asked for the particulars but as a Marine Veteran I was pleased to see a prominent sign on the front door advertising “Veteran Friendly” I’m back again tonight with a friend Thanks for a great meal,...
