The Nest at Caracara — Attraction in Dunedin

Total confusion: Is it The Nest at Caracara, or simply The Nest and/or Caracara?

Let me clarify - “The Nest” and “Caracara” are two different entities located next to each other but operated by the same management. The online presence of both places is misleading, overlapping and sometimes plain wrong. I found The Nest menu linking to the Caracara one on several sites (even on Facebook), conflicting opening days and hours, etc…a total mess.

1. The Nest: I asked for a glass of Chardonnay. To my biggest surprise the barman replied that they do not have Chardonnay. This place claims to be an upscale bar but cannot even offer the most popular white wine in the world. Maybe the bottle fell out of the nest… The prices for cocktails are not listed anywhere and one is to the mercy of the bill…which for food and wine is way too high.

(2) We accessed Caracara’s menu through a QR code. The price on our bill was higher than listed online. We informed management and our ticketed price was adjusted with a poor excuse. “Oh ya, we updated the prices on our POS but not on the virtual menu.” Full stop, no customer service. I wonder how long have they been misleading their customers that way?

The whole experience at both The Nest and Caracara left a bad taste in our mouths…something a restaurateur...

Absolutely indulgent. Love Gabrielle, lovely service. She suggested the espresso martini for me, is usually drink Titos.. I was worried it would be awesome because it’s made with espresso liquor and not actual espresso She did NOT lead me wrong. My guest asked for a suggestion with whiskey and was served a truly smoked Monte Carlo that was snap worthy. All in all I impressed my out of town guests with an ambient spot, an encompassing menu and service to the T. I waited for this spot to open, and time and time again it has not disappointed. This place is AMAZING! The perfect spot for after dinner drinks and small plates. I have no idea how this place doesn’t have a perfect 5 star rating! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and all of the chairs are incredibly comfortable! This is a perfect place to hang out and relax - not to mention the drinks are PHENOMENAL!
