Revised review: 8/18/20, NOW a ** 2-star review of the eatery NOT the seafood store (reviewed below).
Went nextdoor to the Jensen eatery for the fish tacos. Unfortunately both were super soggy, with little grouper, and drowned in salad. The taco shells tasted more like a pancake. The fish was blander than bland. And, when you picked up a taco -- it fell apart. Make sure you have a knife and fork handy. For a tastier possibility -- try it cajun cooked. Original **4-star review of the seafood store.
Their seafood is always fresh and reasonably priced. They also have a grab-and-go shop nextdoor. All ready prepared seafood dishes for the person on a mission. Staff always takes time to explain what's available and suggestions on preparation.
Oh, by the way, there's a stork that hangs there; he's a regular; he's always ready to catch any fish that's thrown. If a bird eats there - it's like cops eating at a place - you know the foods...
Read moreI wouldn't go out of my way to shop here but if you are in the area it's worth a try. Ask what is fresh that day and be very clear about asking where the fish is sourced from. Don't expect to be engaged by the staff. Most of the young adults working there clearly don't want to be there. The forced smiles on their faces drop before you even turn your back to leave. Mostly, their attitude seems to be "hurry up and leave so I can text my friends or post something on Instagram". They wait until the last minute to even acknowledge your presence. A generational thing I guess. The fish monger who works there is the most engaging person they have. They should pay that guy more money. TIP: If you want people to go out of their way to buy fish from you instead of the grocery store --- hire people that will remember customers names and their buying habits. Otherwise, what is the reason for shopping at a family...
Read moreThis is the coolest seafood market I've been to. They have so much variety and many fresh fish just caught to buy along with crabs, softshell and shirmp from the Gulf. I bought 38 pounds of crawfish and it was a great price and I literally had too much (a lot had been frozen for my Fahaka Freshwater Pufferfish who is addicted to crawfish) but froze the ones I didn't need, gave some to other families that needed food, and also enjoyed a crawfish boil. Thank you. Great communication to get 38 pounds of love crawfish, fresh and delivered to Jensen Bros Seafood that morning. I'm impressed. Jensen Bros also has a really nice restaurant right next door where you can also enjoy the catches of the day and fresh, very good seafood for a good price. Thank you Jensen Brothers Seafood employees for the great communication for the crawfish and also for...
