We came on a Friday and it was packed. Even looking for parking in the lot was a challenge. Ordered the Spicy Maki Combo w/ Red Oil Dumplings & Vietnamese Roll to share amongst friends.
The Red Oil Dumplings were rather good, I just wish I knew what was in it as ingredients weren't listed for some menu items. This being one of them. No complaints about the flavor though. They were however, just slightly overcooked & could've used more filling.
The Vietnamese Roll was rice vermicelli, mango & some herbs rolled in a rice wrapper w/ a chili dipping sauce. It was reminiscent of a traditional Vietnamese Summer Roll but without the large pieces of shrimp. It lacked substance & the dipping sauce's spiciness overpowered the contents of the roll.
The Spicy Maki Combo consisted of 3 rolls; Spicy California, Spicy Tuna & Spicy Salmon. Unfortunately, my gripe with this platter is also 3 fold. One, the platter is $1-2 more than what other sushi places w/in a 5 mile radius charge for something similar. Which is fine, provided the quality merits that price discrepancy. This brings me to the 2nd point. The rolls are small. Not so much the center but they definitely skimped on the outer rice layer. Lastly, the spiciness was once again overpowering, making it impossible to gauge the flavor of the individual components.
No complaints about the wait staff. They provided updates while we were waiting for a table. Despite being swamped with customers, they still maintained smiles & checked up on our party intermittently.
Unfortunately, I won't be patroning "Sushi & Thai" again. At least not for the sushi anyway. While some of the food is decent, there are also minor tell tales of $ driven pricing & ingredient sourcing.
Personally, I don't believe the sushi is worth what is being charged. I also don't know of many establishments that put an "additional tip" line on their bill. That aside, although this restaurant wasn't for me, I wish it & its...
Read moreThey are sneaky!!! Came in with a group of women for late lunch early dinner . We were sat and then very very SLOWLY our drink orders which were all water 20 minutes late drinks come and then NOTHING for another 15 minutes our orders were finally taken very slowly outcomes salad and the soup the sushi and after another lengthy wait our cook came out he was the BEST part other then the company about this experience. Ate waited forever for boxes then it was checks . We told the establishment before we came we would need the checks split and as with many establishments we expected the Auto gratuity to be added . What we did NOT expect was to have 18%gratuity to be added to the food 3 of us ordered TO GO . My EAT in bill was 27 dollars my Togo was 40 and I was charged 12.78 for a tip a FORCED tip!! The service was barely worth the 5 -6 I would have tipped the 20%on my eat in food ,but TO GO food you have got to be out of your minds!!! I will also mention we were a party of 10 NO alcohol. I will never ever give my money here again ! I will also publish my receipt were it’s clearly states TOGO next to the 40 dollars in food I ordered for family at home . Maybe I should have called in the order in TOGO as I sat there and I could have avoided the over charge . But this is more for AWARENESS I am ill not get my money back , nor Will the two other ladies ripped off but awareness not even bashing is the key here . Thank you very much for opening my eyes !! Ps you aren’t allowed to add pics to the Facebook reviews for some reason the icon was there but it wasn’t allowing me to add . Here is the itemized and the transaction after in fairness I didn’t catch this till I left , my fault I should have looked . But it wasn’t till a couple of us noticed we all had different tip charges . Had it been the gratuity overall total on the tip it would have been a usual charge for all . But anyone with a calculator can see this was was was charged...
Read moreWhere to start... We waited for an hour or more for our food, and when it finally came, carried by our poor harried waitress (who was trying her best; we love her), the four of us who has ordered hibachi were suprised to receive our food from the kitchen. Even more surprising was that the veggies we're ice cold, the meat wasn't much better, and the noodles had clearly not been thouroghly cooked, evidenced by the cold patches contrasting with the lukewarm bits. We were able to heat up our food on the hibachi grill which our waitress had turned on, thinking that we were going to be getting what we paid for, but the food was without a doubt not worth the 20 bucks a plate that they were charging for the hibachi meals. We asked the waitress to get us the manager when she had chance, and when she came she was very placating and polite. She said they weren't prepared tonight and that there was no excuse for that. She was right, but all she offered as compensation was free desert and a refund on my brother's sushi, which was apparently horrible (and he has never met a sushi he didn't like). My father asked for half off the hibachi meals, as they were not worth the high price we paid, but the owner only ended up allowing for a refund for 1 of the four. They could have left us with a good feeling and an inclination to leave good reviews for good customer service, but well, as you can see, the inclination was not so good natured. What a way to end my...
