This review is specifically about the pizza food truck! I think the staff that works for the 11th street bar itself is great.
My intention was to get ‘to go’ and while I was waiting for my food, I sat down even though I was never formally ‘seated’. While seated, I was offered a drink anyways ((from Jenn at 11th street (friendly and pleasant))
Upon getting my pizza and eating, and initially looking around, I did not initially see any napkin holders. So I went to ask the woman at the pizza truck for napkins and she did some point some out. However, it also occurred to this person that I wasn’t formally seated (b/c there were no napkins, and had I been formally seated for ‘dine in’, that I would have been given napkins) and continued to laugh at me in a very fake ‘ha ha ha’ laugh. Again, this post is not about 11th street bar or their service. Jen was great.
The woman from the pizza truck momentarily left to an ‘employee only’ area, but came back a few moments later. Upon finishing my pizza, I approached this woman and PATIENTLY waited until she asked me what I needed. I told her how I thought it was rude her and her co-worker laughed at me. She tried to say ‘I was down in the employee area’, but the laughing occurred before, NOT after she left for the employee area. From this point, the woman at the pizza food truck continued to call me ‘crazy and delirious’! RUDE! I just paid you $15 for an okay pizza and you call your PAYING CUSTOMER ‘Rude and Delirious’?!?!? What kind of customer service is that!?!???
2 stars for an okay pizza, but again, Jen (whom is a waitress for 11th street...
Read moreThis was a really cool concept restaurant/bar. It sits in an old gas station from the early 1920s which later became a Conoco station. The place is packed with automobile memorabilia, old gas pumps, and an old gas truck converted to bar seating. There are also pictures on the wall of the place when it was a gas station. Overall, the place is very cleverly designed and has a great atmosphere. Ernie’s Bar is the anchor for the restaurant and provides all beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) for customers. The only exception is coffee which is provided by a coffee shop in what used to be the garage area. Food is provided by food trucks that park in the lot surrounding the main building. Seating is all outside but really cozy. There are umbrellas and heaters to accommodate customers year-round. Normally there are 5 food trucks but when we went there were 3 and only the Pizza Truck was open. This truck specializes in really unique pizza combinations and everything is cooked in a brick oven permanently installed behind Ernie’s. We opted for a basic pepperoni pizza and sicilian chicken lollipops. The pizza was really good, thin crust with just the right mix of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. We did not really care for the chicken lollipops. They were pretty oily and we really didn’t taste any of the seasonings that were mentioned in the menu description. Overall, we give this a 4 rating, 5 for the atmosphere and service and 3 for the food. We would definitely come...
Read moreReally cool concept with a good variety of food trucks. Unfortunately, their website is not very clear on which food trucks will be present on a given day and when we stopped by on a Wednesday recently (at the peak of lunch hour) there was only a SINGLE food truck open and it happened to be the only one we were not interested in. Just as we were getting ready to leave to go elsewhere, the truck serving pizza opened up thankfully.
We got: Truffle fries - very "eh", nothing special and felt like too many fries even split between two people (we only got them because nothing else was open) Mesa Verde pizza - thinner pizza but good! Nothing mind-blowing but tasty Coffee (iced mocha) - very overpriced and okay taste
I would still come back here in the future if they had a more clear schedule because there are many other places to try! I would not get the coffee or the truffle fries again. Without a more clear schedule, I would definitely go to a different place to eat during our quick stop in this town for lunch.
Additionally, we discovered that the street parking in Durango is monitored VERY closely and they WILL ticket you within a few minutes of your meter expiring because their patrol people are notified by the system when the meter has expired (ridiculous!!) This has nothing to do with the food trucks of course, but important to note if you are visiting and using...
