11/21/2022 Couldn't WAIT to get some D.D. for breakfast. Wife and I walk in and 2 gents were paying their tab. The wife and I went on by them, away from the door. The gal greeted is with, "YOU NEED TO WAIT OUTSIDE!" To which I responded, why? Because you're blocking the doorway! (I wasn't in or very near the doorway). I was confused, as there were at least 5 empty seats at the bar. So, I waited outside while the wife went to the restroom. 15 min. goes by with me standing outside in the chilly air, thinking, she can't even see me, to swe if I'm here. Wife comes out and says, let's just sit at the bar. We sit. She walks up and says, just have a seat anywhere. I said, " we did". She responds with. " a little understanding would be nice". I explained that I simply didn't understand why she made me wait outside, and was willing to leave it at that. During this conversation, another gentleman walked in and she told him very nasty like, to wait outside. She then heard me kind of chuckle, and said, " I don't need any attitude from YOU!" I told her that she was the one with the attitude, she then looked at us and said that if we didn't like her attitude to "GET THE F*@K OUT YOU DISGUSTING A$$H0le". I then responded with a similar retort. My wife mentioned later that myself and the other family that tried to eat there had one thing in common, we are both Native American / Hispanic. My wife is Irish, by the way,and I've NEVER made a claim like this because it bothers me when people let things like this bother them and being a Durango native, this kind of service makes me sick. We excused ourselves and went to Oscar's and had a wonderful, friendly staff along with a great breakfast. Hope D.D. returns to its old self soon. Gonna be a bit before we try...
Read more6/1/25- Went to Durango Diner for brunch and had a horrible experience (myself and husband)! We waited over 30 minutes to even get a seat (no big deal). Once seated at the bar we waited for service and then had to ask for a menu (no big deal). The server (Holly) came to take our order and we settled in to wait for our meal. About 25 minutes into our wait for food, Holly approached us and ask for us to move down seats for a “large party” and we obliged by moving down one seat each. A few minutes later Holly approached us again and asked if we would move down seats again to accommodate a large party. We noticed 2 seats open at the other side of the bar and stated we would move over to those seats. Holly never responded that it would be a problem for us to move to those seats ( part of the party would be in those seats). The other party was very appreciative that we moved so their entire family, which included children, could all sit together. However, this was a MAJOR issue for the server that we sat in her area. This server was very rude to us about being at her station! Not to mention Holly never took the time to check back on us once we moved seats. I did let the ”new” server know that we moved seats but not by our choice. Food was good, but servers did not acknowledge us throughout our meal and the cook brought us our food. Again HORRIBLE experience with rude servers!! The servers also stood behind the counter and talked about other customers, making...
Read moreI am very disheartened to write this review as we are locals and have eaten at Durango Diner many times. The food is American diner style always good, big portions, and many menu choices. Usually the wait staff is on top of things, but today we had our first bad experience. We ordered, and my husbands toast is almost brought out immediately. My food came out about 10-12 minutes later (allowing my husband's toast to get cold). TOAST IS NOT AN APPETIZER! People order it to eat with their meal - common sense. My husband got to watch me eat until I completely finished my meal, about 8-10 minutes later. As I finished my meal, the waitress came out with my husband's food, which at this point he was so frustrated and just wanted to leave. Our waitress justified the delay by saying "foods take different times to cook", acting as if it's not her fault. My husband had to explain to her that all foods cook at different times, professional kitchens should be serving plates all at once to their guests, not piece meal. I don't know if our waitress said something to the older woman that cashed us out, but she was extremely RUDE to my husband. If her reaction was because of us sending the food back, rather than getting upset as us, the staff should be trained on better service techniques. Unfortunately, this experience put a bad taste in our mouth and we will not be returning for a while. PLEASE TRAIN THE...
