My friend and I recently visited Durango and ran into a problem late at night and went in search of help at the welcome center. We ran into the center looking for guidance. We were going to be hiking the Weminuche Wilderness for a week and our hotel was not letting us keep our rental car in the hotel lot due to space constraints. We were in trouble. Debbie got right on the phone and searched for a solution for us. Within minutes we were walking down to the Durango Downtown Inn to see if they would let us use their lot for a week. They did allow us to - our problem was solved. The part of this story that is special, though is that Debbie offered to take our car to her house for the week for safe keeping. She also offered us other options which would have helped us out as well but it would have been some work for her. She showed us what Durango was all about - a small town feel which I loved and appreciate so much. Thank you for your help Debbie - you are a special person! Our trip in the wilderness was great...

She immediately seemed annoyed that we walked in. We asked about what museums were open and she recommended the Powerhouse Science Musuem. (Were mid 30s mot 5 year olds) but she informed us it was very much for all ages and a great place for adults. She gave us directions and we decided to give it a shot. The directions sent us in the complete opposite way (thankful for Google maps before this lady directed us right into the river) but the best part is when we arrived to the science center, we walked into a building that had two kids under 5 leaving with the parents. The place was clearly made for little children and we looked like creepy adults walking jn by ourselves. We took one look abd b-lined it out of there. To the lady at the Welcome Center, you...
Read moreHonestly this had to be the worst Welcome/Visitor Center my husband and I have ever been to. When we came in awhile back, we weren't greeted. They looked at us while briefly stopping their conversation amongst friends then continued on with it. They never asked if they could help us with anything or point out which brochures would be most helpful. Instead, they completely ignored us the WHOLE time we were in there and didn't even bother to say, "have a good day" as we left. Such poor...
