This was my very first trip to Durango beginning 12/30 and planned to stay a week at the Leland House. As my week was coming an end, I had the opportunity to extend my stay for the entire month! I was so happy they were allowing extended stays. I absolutely enjoyed this cozy queen suite! It was great to have a quiet space so I can work from “home” (I am a school counselor and privacy is what I need). You access the suite by a key code and the room was separated in three parts, living room with tv, kitchen with table, and a queen bed with a bathroom. The kitchen was equipped with a refrigerator and oven. I had plates, cups, pots, pans, utensils and a coffee maker. The bathroom had everything I needed, stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. I appreciated the large container of lotion (dry winter air). The kitchen made it nice to cook small meals and get through a busy work week. I had ample amount of closet space, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. I was able to fit two large suitcases and hang everything I needed. I also had space to store my snowboard. The room also had a dresser for my clothes which was perfect as I extended my stay. The location is right in downtown next to many great spots to eat and shop. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay and great hospitality from Kirk, Laura and Nat. They made me feel like I was at home and fully respected all covid guidelines during this unforeseen time. I had the best recommendations for food and as many site seeing adventures that you can fit into one weekend. I also want to mention, I was offered the option to reserve an office space across the street in RSpace to work, but I chose to stay cozy in my room next to my fireplace. I really appreciated my stay in Colorado as I pulled away from my day to day life in California. I will 100% will come back and stay again. January was beautiful, but I can’t wait to come back during summer and fall. Don’t pass up this beautiful gem. This was a perfect space to recharge during the time when most people are...
Read moreIt is hard to imagine a cleaner, better organized, and better located hotel. ||Location: If you were given a map of Durango and the choice of any location to put a hotel, Leland House may already sit on the ideal spot. It is one block from Main Street. In addition to a set of food trucks, coffee shop, and bar one door down (or straight out one of the back staircases), there are an abundance of restaurants, shops, and bars within in an easy 5-10 minute walk. We were in Durango for a weekend, and we never needed to drive anywhere after we arrived.||Clean: The place was immaculate, both in the suite and in the common areas.||Organization: Everything ran the way they told us it would when we booked. Before we even started our drive to Durango on the day of our trip, I had an email with the entry code, the code to get in our room, instructions on where to park, how to contact them if we needed help, etc. When we got to our room, there were flowers, a personal note, and tokens for a complimentary cocktail at Lola’s next door. The kitchen had a decent-sized refrigerator with an ice maker, a two-burner cooktop, microwave, and most important, a small coffee maker. ||Check-out is as easy as responding to a text message the last morning. ||Leland House is pet friendly, which is important to us because we often travel with our dog (didn’t have her with us this time). Dogs are not allowed to be left alone in the rooms, and they do offer a significant list of pet sitting services, if needed.||If I could change one thing, it would be to make the bathroom larger. But, that is the nature of hotels built in this same era (Leland House building dates from 1927). It was tight, but functional…..and clean.||Even with that, Leland House checks every box very well. We get to Durango every two or three years, and I expect we will be...
Read moreI am currently in the middle of an extended stay at the Leland House Suites of Durango and cannot imagine a more perfect place to stay. I had called to book a reservation and was helped by a very friendly and informative employee. During my stay, the staff has been extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurants, activities, and hikes. I have really enjoyed getting to know Kirk, Laura, Susan and Nat!
Upon arrival, I parked on the street in front of the hotel to unload my car. There is secure parking in the back of the hotel but since my room was closer to the front, I figured it would save me some time to unload and then move my car later. The property is set up with a contactless/remote check in process which worked just fine and is a great idea given the pandemic. I have been working remote during my stay and was pleased with the internet speed at the hotel (which was also very reliable – haven’t had any issues). I had the option to work at the co-working space (R Space) right across the street, which was great if I wanted to get out of my room. The location of the hotel is ideal, right in downtown Durango, a block North of Main Ave. Within walking distance from the hotel, there are restaurants, hiking, grocery stores and the Animas River Trail. I was in a queen suite which had a bedroom, living room and kitchen. The kitchen was perfect to make a quick breakfast before hitting the slopes which is a huge time saver when you are trying to get an early start at the slopes.
Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and can’t wait to come back again...
