I'm a long time Durango local and have seen a lot of businesses roll through this location. It takes a lot to be a restaurateur in this town, and this place might have what it takes. I ordered online with a future time for pickup (was playing 18 holes then taking dinner home). Ordering was intuitive and easy and they were spot on with the timing. I was 15 mins early and they said I had to wait, then handed be hot pizza and wings 2 mins before the specified time. Having the process dialed for a new business is pretty impressive. The pizza is good. The red sauce reminded me of the Happy Joe's I grew up with in the midwest. Wings are cooked and sauced (ie not crispy) which isn't a knock on them, just informative. We tried Mango Habanero, and Red Dragon. Mango Hab, was pretty much off the shelf. Red Dragon was savory with some serious HATE on your lips. Not bad as we like our spice, but if you find Serranos and Habaneros spicy you may want to steer clear. Really good though overall. The patio is spacious and has a nice "back porch" feel. I know many places have struggled in this location, but I hope Pappy's lives a good...
Read moreI don't usually do reviews on restaurants/food joints unless it's a bad service or the food itself is a disappointment. First time I tried their pizza was during a SkillsUSA event of DHS. The pizza was really good and delicious, not greasy & the flavoring is just right. Then we got their brochure in the mail so I thought maybe we'll give 'em a try. I ordered cheesy bread with wings and jumbo wings. Everything was perfect. The cheesy bread didn't taste like it has been sitting in the freezer for a year then was just thrown in a microwave to be heated. It's super soft and the cheese doesn't taste cheap. The chicken wings - perfect! The meat is tender and juicy and the cooked ones you buy in stores will taste like an embarrassment once you tried Happy Pappy's wings. Someone definitely took the time to research, practice and create perfectly cooked/prepared food in this joint. Worth all the penny and the staff were very friendly as well. Finally, fresh and quality pizza and...
Read morePizza is yummy. Cinnamon calzone thing was yummy. Cookies were yummy.
Chicken wings were yummy. We were surprised by the garlic parmasean. We were expecting a dry rub. The sauce was also mixed with Buffalo sauce or some kind of spicy sauce. The kids didnt want to eat it. The garlic parmasean also lacked the garlic taste. The Red Dragon sauce did not taste any different than the Buffalo sauce but was more spicy, which I ended up liking anyways. The Mango habernero was a hit if you like spicy and sweet.
The Durango sodas were awesome to try. We ended up really liking the root beer which I'm picky about. They were refillable too. I suggest for the restaurant to add soda floats to the menu.
Staff was super helpful and kind.
This is definitely a place to try when visiting.
Another weird thing to be happy about is the bathroom. This was the first bathroom where they installed the toilet paper high enough so that I'm not struggling to...
