Edit: I just found out that they aren't willing to do the right thing so they refuse to serve me instead. Obviously, integrity isn't a dominant trait of the management. Previous review: I just left the place after visiting to speak with a member of the owning family. There was an issue with policy violating a law that has nothing to do with public safety. He informed me that he has been alerted to the problem and that he has looked into it. He described his solution and I can say with integrity that it would have been acceptable if it were implemented. The sad thing is that they haven't solved the problem so I'll tell you what it is. You should look at the price you pay versus the price that the menu said you would pay. The violation is a version of fraudulent business practices. They were, and might still be, charging a 3% upcharge if you use credit or debit. The solution would have been to print new menus with higher prices and implement a cash discount. With this solution, there is no fraud and there is no violation of law. In Oklahoma, a customer cannot legally be charged a fee for using a credit or debit card. There is no law against cash discounts. Magnolia Café has been doing it the right way for years but Jalapenos has chosen to resist compliance. For this reason, I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal...
Read moreWe arrived for lunch shortly after noon on January 16, 2014. There were very few customers. We were unenthusiastically greeted and shown to a booth. We ordered appetizers and entrees and a gentleman brought us a basket of cold chips and salsa. Our appetizers came quickly- a bowl of luke-warm queso and a small bowl of guacamole salad. the queso was bland and cold. The guacamole was merely mashed avacados. No spice or anything else. Just mashed avacados. Not even salt.
Our entrees were delivered very quickly. They were cold. Cold enchiladas, refried beans, rice, etc. They might have been acceptable had they been hot. I pushed my plate aside and made a lunch of cold chips and salsa. When the check came, we told the server that the food was cold. She asked if we wanted her to heat it. I told her that we were now ready to leave and it was a little late for that now. She just left the check and walked away.
The cashier asked me if everything was ok. I told here no and that the food was cold. She said "oh," and told me the total for the check.
Overall, this was terrible. If you want Mexican food in Durant, I'm confident that you can do better elsewhere. I know there's a Taco Bell. At least the food...
