Taste Island — Restaurant in Durant

My dad wanted to come here for Father's day. It's my first time in the new building. I haven't eaten taste island since I was a kid.

Flies. Everywhere you looked. Every surface. Anything at the cold bar except citrus had flies all over it. Look in any direction they're flying around and they are not shy about being swatted at or trying to land on your fork while trying to eat. I would be shamed to even open my store like that. I had to push to keep my dad from eating pudding and rice crispy because he's old, can't see good and doesn't care about health hazards. So idk if the owner is banking on people like him eating here or what. If it was just me and my husband we would have turned around at the door.

Waitress was kind though and apologized about the bugs without me saying anything. She was cleaning a bunch of stuff every time I saw her. They need an exterminator. Imagine what the kitchen looks like if they crawl all...

If you're in the mood for cheap Chinese food this is your place lunch is only $11 and dinner is only 13! you'd pay the same price at a restaurant for one plate that you would here for all you can eat!! and the food quality is great everything is always really hot I like that they use short pans so you know that the food hasn't been sitting there all day. I see the employees rotating food the staff is very friendly!! They offer crawfish, creamy crunchy crab rangoons, orange chicken,honey chicken and beef and broccoli I am updating my post as off 11/20/23 I'm not Shure if I have gotten a new Chef or not but all of the food and quality was way better than previous visits They have more high quality and variety options for sushi. I gave it a 5-star rating because it's the best Asian buffet in town. It got that way by being the only one. It's like most others in that the food tastes like Websaurant (or whoever) pre-prepared generic but it is palatable. The wait staff are respectful and get around as needed. I go there when I remember that they are an option. The price is as you might expect from this kind of restaurant. It's a short distance West of Walmart and not too too far off the road to find if you're actually looking for the place.
