We decided to go out for Thanksgiving instead of cooking since there’s only the three of us. When we arrived we knew there would be a wait. No problem. They told us 30 mins to 45 mins. Again, we expected this and were willing to wait. My only complaint about this is that our name was NEVER put on the list. But when we went to follow up and were notified of this error we were sat immediately. While we were waiting I overheard the way that many of these customers were treating the staff and I was so ashamed and my heart broke for them. First off, it’s a holiday! Walking in there was a line and the hostess made it clear there was going to be a wait because there were only two servers. Yet the complaints still get being thrown out. I am unsure how the hostess kept her composure because I know I would have flipped out and hands would have been thrown. We got seated and almost instantly were met with the smiling face of Ella. I believe was her name. She took our order and we received our drinks quickly. We ordered our food and had our food in a timely fashion. While they were out of some food (which we also expected since it was 6 pm) the food we did order was much better than expected. Hot and delicious. Just what we needed. And Ella continued to smile and make sure our holiday dinner was as great as it could have been. Loved her! This entire visit people were complaining and insulting staff about service. But the people kept coming and complaining. I wanted to tell them to get lost and shut up. I wanted to let all the servers, cooks, etc who did work Thanksgiving that this family appreciates you and thanks you for taking time away from your family to make ours a little sweeter. Even the young lady who took our payment was great! So again, thank you! And all the customers that chose to stand there and complain had a choice. They CHOSE stay. They knew entering there would be a wait. So they can all p1$$ off! Again, thank you to your great staff...

We should have known when we pulled up to the parking lot at prime dinner time and only 3 cars were there. Being from out of town and excited for a nostalgic meal, we decided to venture inside anyways. We were promptly seated and asked for our drink orders. We ordered a caramel cappuccino but were told the machine was broken. I asked if the wildfire salad was good and the waiter responded immediately that it was great. My friend ordered the honey butter chicken dinner and I got the salad. Our food took forever to come out and that's when we realized our waiter was the host, waiter, and cook. There were 3 additional employees present, but 2 of them were too busy talking to help our waiter, the other was somewhere in the kitchen likely washing dishes based off the clattering sounds. When our food arrived my friends "fresh baked bread" was stale and inedible. My salad had 1 cold chicken tender chopped over it and no sauce. Despite being the only table in the restaurant, I had to ask for refills on water and they only brought one for me, not one for my friend that also needed a refill. We had to interrupt the employees conversation to get our waiters attention and he brought us the bill even though my friend had no yet received her dessert. At check out, I asked our waiter why he was the only person working and he responded they were understaffed. Clearly that was not true, because there were two other staff members just talking behind the counter.
Needless to say, if the parking lot is empty, heed the warning. Don't hold out hope like we did. Chapel Hill has too many great options to have an...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Bob Evans in Durham, North Carolina was quite enjoyable. The food was delicious, and our server, Julian, provided excellent service with promptness and a friendly demeanor. He was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
Although there was one mistake in our order, the staff quickly rectified it without any hassle. They promptly addressed the issue and ensured that we received the correct dish in a timely manner. The staff's responsiveness and willingness to correct the mistake were commendable.
Despite it being a Friday evening, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. We suspect that the bad weather in the area may have contributed to the low turnout. Nonetheless, the peaceful atmosphere allowed for relaxed conversation and an enjoyable dining experience.
One notable aspect of the Bob Evans establishment was its cleanliness. The facility was well-maintained and spotless, adding to the overall pleasant ambiance of the restaurant. The attention to cleanliness reflects positively on the management's commitment to providing a hygienic and comfortable dining environment.
In summary, our visit to Bob Evans in Durham was marked by great food, attentive service from Julian, swift resolution of any mistakes, a quiet atmosphere, and a clean facility. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others looking for a satisfying dining experience...
