I did not experience bedbugs! The first reviews found online will scare you! I am a long-term Choice Hotel member. Just for one night, the room was acceptable (not great, acceptable). The front desk ladies both night and morning appeared to be super friendly!
as of this review: july 22nd, the hotel was literally sold out and packed with Durham residents impacted from the flood.
The hotel is nestled in a dead-end road, behind the Kaui Steakhouse, and attached to the Homewood Suites.
#googlemaps PLEASE update this location. send a #gpsmapping car to reset this location on the map! LOL
the Google map will take you several twists and turns around a frontage access road that's no longer connecting; in and fully around a currently vacant building, thru the back parking lot! Only to come out at the steakhouse parking lot again. that could be confusing if you dont know where you are going.
For this reason, Im writing a review and also sending it to Choice websute directly to update and repin their location
Choice website lists room 120 as a mobility accessible room. However, the regular low tub (although with rails) was NOT THE WALK -In shower floor that was expected. The shower head extended reach spray handle had a spewing leak at the nozzle connector. I tried to take it off and re twist for a rethread connection. It showed that a lazy maintenance man made a simple fix impossible by over tightening and possibly glued on with the caulk tape. The water was everywhere!!!!
I traveled with my mom for a Duke hospital appointment to reduce travel time from Burlington. So this wasn't my normal travel stay, which is usually 3 days. I booked with points literally hours before arriving, sight unseen, I normally check reviews PRIOR to booking. The first pictures of another review showed bedbugs! I was praying and equipped with lysol, microban, and clorox wipes. Thankfully we didn't experience bedbug bites or see any visual signs.
The 1 wall outlet in the bathroom was not even working even after I reset the button.
We survived! I won't comment on the breakfast. I can only imagine the impact of food inventory in a property that's been sold out for 2 weeks with flood victims...

We arrived to this hotel after a major event in the city only to find out the manager had written up a letter addressed “to whom it may concern” informing any other hotel chain that Comfort Inn did not have a room for us and we needed a place to stay and to comp our visit with them and bill Comfort Inn. When we arrived, the front desk girl handed us this letter and told us they were “completely booked” and “did not have any more king beds”. To that we replied of course “what do you mean” and she responded she really didn’t understand but basically we couldn’t stay there. After being sent to the only place that had availability within a 2 hour radius of the city (Red Roof Inn Motel down the street) we called this hotel back and inquired about another OTHER bed options. She stated they were completely booked and did not have room for us DESPITE making this booking months in advance. According to a few other hotels, which we called to see if they had availability after being denied our reservation at this hotel, there were 3 other rooms which were denied as well. We are guessing they just took the latest check in rooms and bumped them so they didn’t have any arguments to make about whether the hotel was full yet. The front desk girl after I called them back stated they frequently overbook and their “numbers online are not what they actually are” to which I replied “you should probably get that fixed…. Have a nice day”. My husband and I ended up driving 2.5hours home that night arriving at our home to relieve our babysitter of our 4 month old at 2am. I cannot believe they can simply deny you a room because THEY messed up! I also cannot believe the front desk girl had little words for us nor was prepared in telling us this news. OH! And they said we’d get a full refund but they charged our card anyway. We disputed the charge with our credit card company who informed us they have 60 days to respond to the claim before they will will remove the charge.
I will NEVER be booking with this hotel EVER again and I do warn those who have a...
Read moreSO many, many, many things wrong about this hotel and the managers- phone calls and messages they never returned, emails they never responded to, an email reminder that was not sent/received, receipts that were requested but never sent, points that were never added automatically as stated on the website that they will be, and many, many other examples of very poor customer service. I know no one will in the Choice Hotels multi-million dollar corporation will make it right, so I won't waste my time detailing ALL the things that happened. Suffice it to say, this hotel will be happy to charge you if you forget to cancel before the deadline, but don't expect to receive receipts for what you were charged, or a return phone call or email if requested, or the Choice Hotel points you should receive after being charged, unless you call over and over again and make very clear the points that need to be added (10 points for every dollar charged, as stated on the website). I was even told by the front desk manager after many calls to try to get her to take my call, that she actually had a guest in front of her the night that I forgot to cancel my reservations (because they had been booked SEVEN months in advance and I never received a reminder email) who needed a wheelchair accessible room (which I had booked), and who was turned away that night. How simple it would have been to make TWO families' day/night/weekend (mine and that guest's) with a very simple, short, courtesy phone call to me. That was not in the realm of possibilities, I guess, although charging me $1300 for that night (4 rooms) was completed without hesitation, without the receipts for each room being sent to my email address as requested, and without the points being added to my choice privileges account within 72 hours, as stated on the Choice Hotels website. I have been a Choice Privileges account member for over 15 years, but that's the thanks I get, and that's what I call VERY POOR...
