Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Durham

I'll start out by saying my burger was very good, but unfortunately that was the only good thing about the place. This was our first time at a Freddy's. We went on a recommendation from a friend. The service was horrible, unfriendly, lazy, and slow. The fries tasted like pure grease. And for a place that has Frozen Custard in the name you'd think the ice cream would've been good enough for us to not have thrown it away after a few bites. My chocolate malt tasted like they just poured half a bottle of Hershey's syrup in it. My wife had to take hers back twice before they eventually had all the missing ingredients added. When we were finished I had to practice my trashcan Jenga skills just to throw our trash away. All the while two employees walked right past me and the trashcan. And they weren't even busy, there was only one family in there while we were eating and when we left there were only three. I have to say, I was shocked at the amount of employees behind the counter, they were definitely well staffed to tackle a rush but unfortunately either inadequately trained or lacked motivation entirely. This makes me sad because as I walked around waiting on my food I read all the signs posted that talked about Freddy and how he started the chain. I believe Freddy to be a great American and served our country proudly, however I don't think he'd be very proud of how this particular restaurant was being run the day...

I think I am taking it easy on Freddie's here with just a 2* review - but I cannot bring myself to leave a 1 star. The food was edible. My daughter and I stopped in around 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Walked in, and ordered. She wanted a burger without onions - "We can take them off for you!" the guys said. I wanted to try the huge-looking steak burger (that he recommended). I didn't want mushrooms - "We can take them off too!". Great! The order was a little pricy, but the food sounded good. We get our drinks and look for a table - but every table in the restaurant was filthy. FILTHY! So we found the least filthy table, poured some water on the table and using a handful of napkins, cleaned it off. Then we waited for our food forever - until we thought we heard our number (it was just mumbled over the loud speaker). When we returned to our table to eat, my burger was loaded with mushrooms and her loaded with onions. And my burger was about the size of a McDonalds McDouble. Maybe smaller. Again - food was edible - after we picked off all the stuff that shouldn't have been on there. Pepsi products for drinks was also a disappointment. Overall, not a good experience whatsoever. Freddy would not be happy if he had dined with us that day. And...

I am currently in town at Home2Suites for a Business Trip with Bridgestone Retail Operations and wanted to get some dinner one night at a place close by so I did not have to drive. Ordered online from Freddys and walked inside to pick it up, I came a bit early so I had to wait, no worries. Upon picking up my food, I noticed I didn’t have the seasoning bottle I ordered. It was around 6$ so I was a bit upset. I asked the staff if maybe they had forgot it, and they informed me sadly they were out. I was disappointed at first, but then Mrs. Shenelle at the front counter told me to hold on and she will be right back. She came back with a HANDFUL, of seasoning packets! I was not expecting that, and that completely flipped my night around, completely not even upset about the missing seasoning Bottle anymore! I will be in town multiple times this year upcoming, and I definitely know where i will be coming back to when I’m in town! Always loved Freddy’s as the French Fries are unbeatable!
