My wife and I went to LaBatana about 4 o’clock this afternoon and ordered the beef fajitas which we have ordered in the past. About six weeks ago my wife was out of town and I got hungry for Beef fajitas and they were actually very good. I was there by myself. They were very flavorful. Very hot tortillas were hot. Everything was good. Service was not 100% as I had to finally get up and Ask for more tea. We have been back a couple of times since and it just wasn’t as good as it was the first time there just wasn’t as much flavor in the fajitas. They were cut larger. They weren’t tender and the tortillas are small and they only give you about three so today we ordered beef fajitas which we split And they came out very hot, but they were cut larger and just didn’t have the flavor. There was plenty of vegetables, which were good but they brought out the condiments first and the beans were not more than warm so we had to send them back and they bring that out before the fajitas which I don’t understand because it’s gonna get cold before they finally get there with the fajitas And to make things even more unpleasant about our experience the very pretty young lady that waited on us never broke a smile just acted like she didn’t want to be there and of course did not come back and check on this like she should So very disappointing, hoping that it would be as good as it was the first time we ask for the fajitas to be cooked, medium rare and of course they’re overcooked and cut so large that they weren’t tender and certainly didn’t have the flavor and if the young lady had to just broke a smile it might have helped and there were several other ladies there that were smiling. We just got the wrong one. It’s just a shame that you can’t have consistency. Seems like that’s the problem. It’s real good one time and lousy next I guess it’s too much to ask for. The one thing that upset both me and my wife was that we ask for cheddar cheese to be put on our refried beans and the just a very little bit of white cheese which they charge 295 for. Anywhere else they wouldn’t charge and we ran out of tortillas my wife and I split three and needed some more and we ordered more tortillas and they came out and they charged another 295 for that. So for right now we won’t be back. I’ll drive to Fort Worth and eat fajitas and uncle Julio‘s or somewhere where they appreciate your business and don’t try to overcharge you and our friendly. just a shame that you can’t have a good night experience and of course everything is so expensive now you would think that they would try to do better but I guess that’s just the norm. Not recommended!! Sunday after the memorial service on Fox News we decided to go out to Latana and give it one more. Try to see if we might possibly get a better dining experience this go around. Unfortunately, the same situation with white staff that don’t have a smile on their face that act like they would never be there they will not follow up to see if you need more tea. You have to flag somebody down while you interrupt your meal and our fajitas this time actually came out cold With the chicken laying on top in large pieces and the bottom beef small pieces were I would say not hot, but we’re definitely warm but again the other folks that got fajitas were sizzling and smoking like that should be and to charge $20 or more and have to pay And to be warned that you’re gonna have to pay for another drink if you wanna take out drink and something besides the tea you want a Dr Pepper maybe they make such a big deal out of you’ve got to buy a tray to take out your extras to go home so again lousy service, bad attitude Lousy food just don’t do like I did and give them another try it’s not gonna be any better don’t waste...
Read moreWe moved from Houston and we've been at La Botana a few times. Love their food. Their Horchata drink is amazing. However they need to work on their staff. They can be pretty slow and not friendly at times. Today we went at 2:30 pm and it was slow. Only 4 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. The hostess seemed upset when we walked in, she didn't say hi at all. Just asked how many and took us to our table and left. After about 7 to 8 minutes I had to ask another waitress who our waitress would be since no one had taken our drink order yet. Finally our waitress came over and took our order. Her name was Maria. She was really nice and always had a smile however she was really slow and our order came out incomplete and wrong. She brought us La Parillada and my kids cheese quesadilla but forgot our tortillas and side plate that comes with Parillada. We waited and 6 minutes later she comes back again to ask if everything ok. I tell her we are missing our tortillas and side plate of rice and beans. Another 6 minutes later she brings us tortillas (Which by the way are small and only 2) and rice and beans. I tell her I wanted refried instead of charro beans. She said oh yeah she forgot. She then says if you still want them I'll put the order in. I tell her yes because that's what I originally wanted since my Autistic son only eats refried beans. She then tells me they will charge me for that side order. I tell her no... take these charro back and bring me my original order of refried please. Most restaurants don't charge you extra for their mistakes. I didn't like this. Kind of disappointing. Also the kids drinks are the same price as adult drinks. Shouldn't kids drinks be cheaper or included in kids meal? The other times we were there we didn't get charged for the kids drinks. Also we ordered kids cheese quesadilla and they still charged us $5.79 for s fajita quesadilla. This should be cheaper since we didn't order the meat. In that case next time I'll ask for the fajita on the side then. Overall, food and drinks were great!!! It's just the service that needs work. And bring food out together...
Read moreWe had a good afternoon meal and rather enjoyed the experience.
I had the chimichangas and my wife had the mole enchiladas. Both with rice and beans.
The mole enchiladas rated at about an 8. Bit spicier that what she generally prefers but didn't kill her. Beans and rice were both about the same 8.
Also had chips and salsa. Chips were good and crispy and salsa was o.k. chips an 8+ and salsa probably a 7ish.
My chimichangas with steak were very crispy, in a good way. The meat was fresh inside and the cheese sauce was pretty tasty. When it comes to this meal it's hit or miss at most places. La Botana hit for a 9 on my entree. Beans and rice for me were tasty and had some good flavors. About an 8 for me as well.
The beer was nice and cold. Not many choices on tap. 4 I believe. But XX was available and it was pretty good. Overall a 9. Selection... I would have preferred a cold Shiner or even a dark Modela.
Wife had a house margarita on the rocks dressed. She gave it an 8. Enjoyed it and realized it wasn't supposed to be fancy. Was not bitter, which is a typical complaint for a house margarita. She liked it.
Our server was a young man likely in his early 20s. Great attitude, nice and quite competent. Took good care of us. Very noteworthy is to say that while my wife was talking to me, he came close to our table, but not up in our grill and he waited for my wife to finish saying a thought and waited until we addressed his directly, meaning he was patient and respectful as to not just walk up and interrupt my wife. We thought that was pretty awesome of him.
Atmosphere was alright. Included some pictures. The bar area was small, but I could see sitting there if we wanted to get a quick drink. Quaint area.
Nice experience overall. Would totally go again when we are in town. And as a side note. We also went to Fuzzy that same day and she got a margarita there also. La Botana's margarita...
