Not at all a positive experience. We arrived just before 5 pm. And let me just say an empty parking lot at Cracker Barrel should be your first clue things aren't going well. We went in and were seated immediately. Then it just stopped. Only three or four tables were filled. We were told our waitress would be over, well that took awhile (in an empty restaurant). She finally arrived and asked if we wanted to order, and then said let me take your drink orders. My son ordered mellow yellow. Her response was mellow yellow ok. Then she looked at him and said what do you want to drink...he replied mellow yellow. She said what. He picked up the menu and said see mellow yellow it's on the menu. Her reply was ok I've never had that. We then asked if they still had the holiday menu since we were handed one when we went in. Her reply was no we stopped serving holiday menu I don't know why they are still giving them to customers. Ok give us a minute or two please. A while later she ready to take our order. Do you have baked potatoes, no we used them up at lunch time today. It's been a really bad day. Ok I'll have Maple bacon chicken. Mashed potatoes and broccoli. Ok but what kind of chicken would you like? My son ordered grandma breakfast. I asked for a side of apple slices cause he doesn't eat bacon and eggs. I told her I would pay the additional price. Order comes my husband's meatloaf, and veggies looked like it had been sitting all day. My son's pancakes were ok. Oh and here's your bacon and eggs. I couldn't bring you apples cause I would have to charge you more. Yep I told you that was fine, please bring him apples. Now we realize there is no syrup. He has to wait, and wait and wait. By the time she returned pancakes were cold. I can't really think of anything positive to say about the maple bacon chicken. Oh yeah what happened to our fried apples. Never seen them. She dropped by one last time to see if we wanted a check. Why yeas please and two boxes. 20 minutes later we sat waiting for our check. I had to go up and ask for it. 5 workers looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. At the register, the girl never asked how our meal was. She just stood there took the bill and checked us out. I asked for a bag for my leftovers. She looked around said I don't have any, but I'll get you one. No thank you I don't have 20...
Read moreI used to love coming here, cracker barrel is so delicious and it holds memories of my aunt and me going there when I was younger! Recently though, I haven't been too pleased with their service. I try to be very understanding, I used to work in a restaurant, so I know how hard it can be. The last two times I went made me decide to skip going to cracker barrel for a while. The first issue, we were waiting in the gift shop for a to-go order, and they told me we were waiting for the kitchen for my meal, 10 minutes later, I'm able to get home and sit down to eat. The food was ice cold, and I live 2 minutes away from the store, so the drive wouldn't have had time to make it lose its heat that quickly during the drive. It probably sat in the kitchen for some time before coming out to me.
The second time, we went at 9am on a Sunday, they were pretty slow, we waited 30 minutes for our to-go order, after showing up 15 minutes after we ordered. When we finally were handed our order, no one checked it and they missed an item. We didnt notice this until after we got home. I called and just asked if I could come pick up the missing item real quick, I was offered a refund. I again offered if I could just get what was missed, and I'd bring the receipt and show that no one signed off on the checker line. She said sure it'll be ready in 5 minutes. I'm right around the corner, so I was fine with that. Stopped by, and waiting 15 minutes, in that time I was handed two separate meals that were not mine, one of the other customer whose food I was handed got snippy with me as they were walking out, thinking I was trying to take their food. The staff come ask me again what I was waiting on, and they found it sitting in the back, apologized since had been sitting in the back for the whole time I was there waiting. They thought I said my name was something else on the phone and wrote the wrong name. I would have been okay with that, but I initially came in to pick it up explaining I just called on the phone, my name was ---, I spoke to ---, and I'm just trying to get ---. So after that I'm kind of tired of their unorganization. Their food is still really good, and all the staff are friendly and try to be helpful. The establishment is clean. So the place is still a great place to go to, but It's just frustrating living so close and getting cold meals...
Read moreThis is a solid family restaurant. I hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in over a decade but my 4 year old son kept raving about it after going with his dad and grandparents so the two of us had a mommy son date on a Thursday afternoon. There were only a few tables of guests and they had us spaced out so the customers were spread out.
I came in with low expectations as I normally don't care for chains or Southern food. The kids menu didn't look healthy but they were super accommodating and made a kids size grilled chicken and broccoli for my son for the kids price. Apparently Cracker Barrel makes great grilled chicken because my son finished it and he never eats mine. He also let me know that they have the best biscuits and mac n cheese ever. I do agree that the complimentary biscuits are great and were the highlight of my experience. The mac n cheese won't disappoint; And you know it's good when a 4 year old likes it over Kraft.
I had the sirloin steak and they cooked it exactly as requested (medium well). For sides, I had green turnips, broccoli and mac n cheese. Was my steak as good as a steakhouse? Of course not. This is certainly not Fogo quality. But for $13 it was very good and better than I expected. I appreciate my veggies weren't greasy or coated in butter and oil like some other chain restaurants do.
The server April was amazing and sweet. She was super attentive and just seemed like a caring and friendly person. The service was what I'd expect at a high end restaurant.
The store attached to the restaurant may be a pro or con debating on how you look at it. It is super cute with all kinds of stuff you probably don't need but can't resist. They had some great deals on the sales rack. Just a warning- it's impossible to escape without your child asking you to buy a toy or candy. And since you have to walk through the store to get to the restaurant, you'll probably hear some persuasive arguments for a hot wheels or dinosaur from your kids twice. Based on my experience and this being my son's favorite restaurant ever (he talks about Cracker Barrel even more than Sesame Place), I'm...
