This is not East Greenwich its the one in Greenville (Smithfield RI)....couldnt change location? I really hope we caught the restaurant on a bad night, because the food was way over priced for what we received. It was 630pm and 3 people where at the bar, 1 table of 4 was paying the bill. I think we should of taken that as a queue it wasn't going to be good. We ordered cokes, never got water glasses, for the price of food you should have, water glasses and cloth napkins. First we had pasta fagiole, its wasn't terrible, but very different than my Italian grandmothers, it was not in a red sauce more like it was cooked in undrained beans. The waitress was nice, but not good, she gave me a teaspoon to eat the soup, and 3 pieces of stale bread for my husband and I to share. I asked for a soup spoon, which to my amazement they have! For dinner, my husband had the beef braciole, it was tough and I thought it tasted sour, (he didn't notice the sour taste ) it was stuffed with ham so not sure if it was bad. I asked what it came with, he thought nothing because she never asked what side he wanted, she just brought him penne pasta. I make my bragiole with Italian seasoning and cheeses, pounded (tenderize), rolled and cooked in a red sauce all day, it cuts with a fork, this was hard to cut with a steak knife. I had the chicken Parmigian with penne, it was definitely reheated, they added more cheese and doused in thick sauce that seemed a mix of some jar variety, nothing was fresh! This was the first time we left a restaurant without taking anything home. I can only say there will be no making this better next time, we definitely...
Read moreI gotta tell ya, as someone who grew up surrounded by bold Italian flavors, this was such a letdown. Frank & John From Italy on Main Street in East Greenwich missed the mark big time. I ordered a cheese and pepperoni pizza for $16, expecting some authentic seasoning and a flavorful punch. Instead, I got the blandest pizza I’ve had in a while.
The crust? It wasn’t the worst, but it didn’t have that satisfying chew you’d expect from good pizza dough. The pepperoni was so sparse, it was practically playing hide-and-seek. And the cheese and sauce? Absolutely flavorless—no seasoning, no kick, no nothing.
Now, I ate most of it, but let me explain why. I had just finished a long shift at work, I was starving, and I had already spent my hard-earned money. Trust me, if I wasn’t that hungry, this pizza would’ve gone straight to my dog.
It’s a shame because the spot has such a great location, and I really wanted to like it. Maybe I’ll give them another shot if someone recommends something different from the menu. But as far as a standard cheese and pepperoni pizza goes, Frank & John need to take a trip back to Italy to learn how to season properly. This ain’t it.
