So my two buddies from high school and I went here a month ago and had a great time. I ate 20 wings, drank 2 IPAs, 2 Irish Car Bombs, and bought 3 shots of Jonnie, one for each of us. I was charged for 20 wings, 1 Car Bomb, and the 3 shots, so I got 3 free drinks. Cool. Sounds like my kind of place. I tipped 25%. Tonight, I went in with my buddies again and drank 3 IPAs and a Car Bomb. I was charged for 5 IPAs, 1 Blue Moon, 1 Jameson (Car Bomb), & 1 Shinerbock. My buddies drank the Shiner and Blue, which they paid for. The bartender argued with me, and then, after requesting to talk to the manager, the manager argued with me further and then took 2 IPAs off the bill and threatened to call the cops. I said call the cops, I got nothing to hide and I definitely didn't drink 8 drinks. Then the owner, who was drunk as s, came up to me, argued with me, and even went so far as to grip the back of my neck, calling me drunk, saying I didn't know what I drank. Almost knocked that youngin' hippy drunka** piece of s out. Then, they modified my bill again and changed it to 5 IPAs and 1 Jameson. Everyone is coming up to me telling me to eat it and not come back. I'm like f* that, this is wrong. Finally, the cops show up, decide I'm not drunk and tell me to pay the modified (for the 2nd time) bill and not return. They said the customer has the long term advantage as I can write a bad review, which I'm doing, and not come back. I agreed, as I figured 5 IPAs and a Car Bomb is about what I'd pay if the bill was right and I left a normal tip (IPAs were discounted for "Thirsty Thursday"). Needless to say, there was no tip from me and there won't be any in the future. Definitely won't be returning here, even though their wings are good and they're a mile and a half from my house. It's a shame, they lost 3 customers who were planning to go there 2-4 times a month. If I could give them 0 stars for the deceitful business and inconvenience, I would. Stay away from...
Read moreThe Brasserie is FANTASTIC! It's been around for years but it is not just your dad's pub (or mine) anymore!
My family has been coming here on and off for over 20 years. It's been a longtime favorite of my dad who just turned 90 but for the rest of us it was just an ok place to go with Dad. We've had lunch in the bar area and family celebrations in the dining area. Up until now I would have said it's a solid place to get good food with good service, trustworthy.
A couple of nights ago my wife and I took my Mom out for dinner and suggested a few downtown restaurants. She lives close to The Brasserie and didn't want to drive into the city. So I lowered my dining expectations from amazing to trustworthy and headed for The Brasserie. Boy were we pleasantly surprised!
The dining area was very slow but it was Taco Tuesday in the pub and the pub was hopping! The mgmt weren't expecting such a big turnout and had staffed a little light. Alex met us at the door, seated us in the "Garden Room" and said our server would be with us shortly. He returned pretty quickly and said with a grin, "Looks like I'm your server tonight". What a stroke of luck for us, Alex is a fantastic server! He answered questions and made great recommendations from the "updated to us" menu which has quite a few fantastic options.
Our food came out in good time and it was all delicious! The highlight on our plates was the vegetable medley; shredded cabbage, brussel sprouts, carrots and squash blanched and then stir fried in olive oil. It was perfectly cooked and delicious!
All in all I'd say if you haven't been to The Brasserie lately, you need to go. It's conveniently located on RT 462 just east of the city. I look forward to returning soon and can't wait to dine outside on the patio...
Read moreWe are in PA visiting from New York and wanted to find a great local place to grab a nice dinner. The reviews said this place had a rave worthy tomato bisque soup... well trust me it did. The tomato bisque soup is to die for. Come here just to try it. And while your at it grab a plate of loaded French fries. It’s gigantic and will easily satisfy 4-6 as an appetizer. We also had the grilled cheese and burgers, all completely fabulous. And the French fries are perfect! But what really made the meal was our waitress Emily. She was so friendly and helpful, really cared about our dining experience. Just when you think the service industry has lost its flair you meet someone like her that makes a memorable experience.
Because it’s important to me to do a complete and fair review, as a New Yorker, just an FYI for anyone traveling, the calamari is not made like a traditional Italian dish in New York. It is not battered in a light batter and served with marinara, all those tender legs included. It is more like fried clams, breaded and fried and served with tartar sauce. Still very nice as an appetizer and the chipotle mayo sauce they served with it was awesome. It’s served on a bed of sweet potato shoe string fries that we could not stop eating!!
Overall such a great place and a great experience. Thank you to Emily and all the staff. I wish I had pictures to share but we were too busy devouring the food...
