Walked in last night (9-2-21 at about 9:35). There was a young, heavyset woman at the cash register with multiple nose piercings. She was very clearly at her wits end about something and appeared to be upset with my family and me for coming in. We did not feel welcome. The first words out of her mouth, after she ostensibly looked away and shook her head several times, was, “Do you know what you want?” I gave her my order - a Big John and a coke; a Slim 3 with a Sprite. She placed two medium cups on the counter. Then my daughter gave her order - a No. 6 with chips and a large Sprite - at this point, the employee slammed a medium cup on the counter so loudly, it startled us. I was taken aback and asked, “Are you OK?” She didn’t make eye contact but said, “I’m fine. Is that it?”
“No,” I told her, “He also needs to order.” I pointed toward my husband, who was obviously with us and scanning the menu options. He ordered a No. 5 with a large coke. We also bought four bags of chips.
She was one of the most unfriendly, unwelcoming, unprofessional, discourteous and rude individuals we have ever encountered in a customer-facing role. She made us feel like we inconvenienced her by selecting this particular Jimmy John’s establishment for our late-night dinner choice. We were eating late because my job is extremely demanding, and after having been up since 4 a.m. and working my fourth straight 20-hour day on my feet for a public agency, I just wanted a quick and easy dinner solution. I’m a Customer Experience director and I can unequivocally say, if she worked for me, she would have been disciplined and, very possibly, terminated. This is certainly not the kind of service we’re accustomed to from Jimmy John’s.
For well over a decade, our family has been loyal to Jimmy John’s, frequenting local franchises at least once a week but, more often than not, two or three times a week. At work, my staff often orders Jimmy John’s for large-group meetings.
I intentionally thanked your employee on our way out and, to my surprise, she said, “Have a good night.” The irony is, she literally ruined our evening. My daughter was fuming and I was aghast that Jimmy John’s would employ such an audacious individual. If your goal is to make customers feel like they should apologize for choosing that Jimmy John’s to spend their hard-earned money, you’ve succeeded.
It’s possible that your employee had a bad day or got some terrible news - I get it, but maybe I did too.
My point is, my family and I didn’t deserve what she was serving tonight. We deserved better.
To add I duly to injury, we were not given a receipt so I can’t verify whether she charged me for a large or medium Sprite.
Whatever her problem was, I hope your employee recognizes that she needs to do better by her employers and those she...
Read moreMy tuna sandwich with “regular” tuna, lite lettuce, extra tomatoes, reg mayo, oil & vinegar, oregano and ez jalapeño ranch.
I get the same thing all the time at every jimmy johns and I’ve never had it be so sloppy before. Feels like there was double amount of the tuna as normal. While some may consider this a good thing, I actually wanna taste my other ingredients which is hard/impossible to do when the sandwich tasted literally like they just put a bunch of tuna and mayo in some bread and called it a day.
Normally not one to make a big fuss but I called to “complain” and person on the phone was like “yeah they probably just put extra tuna on there…” then nothing else. Literally had to ask for a remake. Not saying anything wrong with asking for what you want, but back when I worked customer service if a customer called and said my order was made wrong, instead of just acknowledging it we usually offered the remake/credit ourselves. I understand the importance of listening to what people say and acknowledging feelings but I called for a solution not to talk about my feelings.
I don’t mind if they’d asked me to bring it back to make sure I’m not just trying to get free food (frankly I’m not eating this mess) but to just be like “oh, okay.” in response to a complaint kinda just...
Read moreThis location has to have some of the worst staff amd service of any restaurant I have ever been too. Today I went in to place a togo order. When I walked there was probably 5 people behind the counter talking, no one looked up or acknowledged me when I walked in. I stood there for 3 to 5mins when I finally said something. One of the female staff rudely said to me "O, you're ready? Let me get someone." And then yelled for someone by name in the back. That person came out and as I placed my order it appeared I was bothering him, like he had better stuff to be doing. I ordered 2 sandwiches 2 pickles and 2 bags of chips. The person making the food just stacked it all up on the "Pick up" counter and returned to the group of people talking. I had to say excuse me twice before someone acknowledged me so I could ask for a bag. The reply I got was "O, you need a bag to carry that?" And it was then just handed to me still folded up and he returned again to his group and left me to bag up the food. With out seeing it and only hearing about it I think it will be hard to understand the level of unprofessionalism, rudeness, and disrespect. I will never return to...
