NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY- NOR DID I EVER THINK THIS WOULD BE SOMETHING I WOULD EVER POST....
I've been a customer at this place for a minimum of forty years, with that being said, and he stated that to me as well.He knew I had been there since I was a kid. I went in today and was told by the owner himself, John. that he'd recommend me not coming back ! ( due to me having diverticulitis and the cooks not taking care of the customers.which I thought all restaurants were supposed to let customers know know of allergy concerns and same w te customer stating this as well and be accommodating and take care of them. But apparently not in this case) He stated to me, I was the only customer that has ever had an issue with my order. Now, mind you when I place an order I ordered chicken and cheese burritos no rice, if I eat rice, I have a condition called diverticulitis, it will put me in the hospital. If I eat things that do not agree with me.It's easier to state. It's an allergy, before trying to explain diverticulitis.)
This has never been an issue with these guys , until the last year. I've even explained it to him years ago when I was diagnosed! So, because the cooks don't read the orders properly and send them out this is my fault. When you live FORTY FIVE minutes from a restaurant, and you order your food and to get home, to find that what you ordered and pd for is not what you got. You call and ask if it can be replaced and you have pictures AND the reciept! This seems not to matter with them. What made it worse, Is it wasn't even my orderthat he messed up! It was my daughter's and the best part is, the owner is the one that took the order. It was the last time we were there happened to be in town called in and order and then asked if they would replace her order as they stated, they would over the phone. So it wasn't like we were in there looking for free food. There have been plenty of times I have come home and our orders were not what we ordered and I kept my mouth shut. ( Not to mention how many times i've gotten sick , or the salsa was ruined , i knew it as soon as you opened it because you could smell it.)
The last time when the order was wrong, she called and explained the situation, when we got home that day, and it was no problem, and then today, AFTER I PAID, and HE HANDED ME OUT THE FOOD, I was then told this!
That's okay. It's really sad because they do have good food. Unfortunately, the cooks apparently don't know how to do their job and it was put off on me, beyond ridiculous! So I will no longer be going to this restaurant.!
Thanks for the last forty plus years of service Adolphs, sorry, you're cooks Can't comprehend an order on a receipt and it just costed you quite a few customers with...
Read moreAdolph’s is a solid choice for Mexican food in East Moline, offering a decent dining experience overall. The food was pretty good, and there are definitely some standout dishes. If you’re a fan of classic Mexican comfort food, I highly recommend trying the enchiladas, they were flavorful and cooked just right. Another must-try is the fried ice cream; it’s a perfect sweet treat to end your meal on a high note.
The service was decent, though not exceptional. The restaurant seemed to be staffed mostly by teenagers, and while they were friendly enough, the level of attentiveness varied a bit. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I think with more experience, the service could really shine.
The atmosphere is where the restaurant could use a little improvement. The decor feels a bit dated and could definitely benefit from some updates to make the space feel more modern and inviting. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s not as vibrant or fresh as some newer spots in the area.
Overall, Adolph’s offers a satisfying Mexican dining experience in East Moline. It’s a great spot for a casual meal, with good food and service, but a little attention to updating the atmosphere could make it even better. For those in the area, I’d give it a solid 4/5 stars. It’s worth a visit if you’re craving Mexican food in...
Read moreFour of us had the $12 Sunday buffet at about noon. It is a popular restaurant, and a favorite of East Moline residents for decades. The restaurant had a continual flow of customers, but they have adequate seating inside, and outside in covered area, so there was no wait. This is a casual, family oriented restaurant, and in addition to booths they have some long tables to accommodate larger groups.
The buffet is an excellent way to sample their menu, as the items included a taco bar, enchiladas, tamales, beef cubes in a red sauce, small/tender/spicy pieces of pork ribs, shredded pork or chicken in a sauce, chorizo and eggs, a potato/bacon/onion casserole, rice, beans, chips, nacho sauce, jalapeno poppers, and more. Your soft drink is included, as is an Apple or cherry dessert burrito with ice cream ( those are prepared and kept in the kitchen area so you'll have to ask for them).
All the food was hot, well seasoned, and plenty was anyways available. Although you order and pay at the counter like a fast food restaurant, there were a few wait-staff on duty to assist with refills of your soda, to bring you the dessert, and to keep the tables clear of dishes for you...
