Bottom line, our son suffered a horrible allergic reaction after eating here. The management, when notified, was dismissive at best shifting blame to me.
Aside from his experience our other food was mediocre at best. I couldn't eat the salad the lettuces was wilted and brown, the fries were tough. My husband had veggie wings which he said were okay.
When we sat down I let our server know we had never eated at a BWW with our son before and he has lots of food allergies. I told him what his allergies were and asked if it would be possible for the kitchen to prepare some chicken that would be safe for him. He ensured me that it would be. The server was very nice, however, I don't think he has been trained on how to handle food allergies.
I told him beef was one of the allergies and asked if we could do plain chicken and try a sauce. He handed me their allergy menue for me to check which sauce was safe. I found one and we ordered. The food came out and I noticed the chicken was fried. I asked again if it was safe and said I was expecting grilled chicken. He let me look at the menu and said these are the boneless wings I checked again and saw they were fried in beef. I apologize for misunderstanding and reiterated that our son can not have beef. I asked for plain or (naked) tenders on the menue thoes are supposed to be safe for my sons allergies. He brought out thoes tenders we looked at them and they looked okay just greasy but he was hungry and we had been over his allergies so I cut them up and my son began eating. After eating 2 he became very ill and we left in a hurry.
My husband took our son and I paid. I never saw the itemize bill, but we paid close to $70 which I felt was very high. We administered meds and have been taking care of him ever since. Now 24 hours later he's still having to take meds to control the reaction.
I called the manager that night to let her know about our experience. I said that the server was very nice but didn't seem like he knew what to do about food allergies. When I told her my son had a reaction and that he's allergic to beef she said that in their kitchen there is beef everywhere and that they can not make sure anything is free of that. I asked her why we weren't told that upfront. We would have said thank you and happily left. It's okay to be unable to accommodate some food allergies. It's not okay to say yes and then risk someone's life.
She said that I should have read the allergy menue better and understood that they can't make sure it's safe. I expressed that it's the job of her servers to know the limitations of their kitchens ability to prepare safe food for certain allergies and advise people that maybe this isn't the restaurant for them. She said she didn't know what she could do. I asked for a refund for his meal which she agreed to but said their was no way they would comp the bill for the table.
I hope that no other people with food allergies experience this kind of neglect and carelessness from any establishment. Especially children. If you have food allergies stay away! If you value cleanliness stay away. My husband said when he was in the restroom washing his hands a staff member used the restroom and left without washing.
Bottom line, this is not a safe restaurant for anyone with diet limitations. I don't know what the corporate policy is, however, I would hope it's better than what we...
Read moreIf you need a confidence booster, try ordering from the East Peoria location. I tried to order the 20 wings for $16.99 online special, and it'll allow you to go through the whole process to check-out, only to tell you that the item isn't available. Then I tried the 15 wings online special. Got all the way through selecting every single detail, location, etc. Got to check-out...darn it, same thing, not available. Had my wife try on her phone, same thing. Shoot. I called to ask for help and was immediately advised that they can't give us the same price as online and to try the app (we didn't ask to order by phone, just for some help, but that's fine, we'll try the app). Tried the app, both online specials, both devices, all the way to check out, same thing, not available. Called again...held for 5 minutes, then they go check something in the back (I think their internet is in the back so maybe if they check their internet connection, they can tell me if I'm ordering correctly from my phone). The person came back and suggested we try different sauces since some of the limited time only sauces are so limited time in fact that they're out. Imagine having a sauce so popular. Anyway, we tried that and it worked! We went back to check out on our phone and attempt to use a gift card to pay for part of the order but it doesn't work, not enough digits on the yellow Buffalo Wild Wings gift card that says good to use online or at any location. We check out and go pick up the order. The really nice person at the desk goes over the order and reads off everything perfectly from the receipt. I ask about sauces/dips and he points to the bag that they're in. When I got home we were missing items, can you believe it? We called and they asked if the order was correct when we picked up. Yes. The man read off the order correctly, I trusted that what he read corresponded with what was in the bag. Should I come behind the counter next time and go over it together with him? We could be like Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in "Ghost". Romantic AND accurate. 2 stars because Buffalo Wild Wings is awesome just not from THIS location. The fries we got with our order were clearly from yesterday. If you sell day-old fries can you discount them next time? You can save yourself the trouble in posting a link to a survey or somewhere that I can go to give more details but no thanks, these are all the...
Read moreSo today I stopped by and the visit started out Great got sat down literally had my food in 10 minutes of being in the building. But once I got my food thatâs when the trouble startedâŠ.. So my server came up with the food and asked if everything was alright I said yes because the food looked good and my drink was still full I hadnât took a drink yet. Well about a minute after I got my food my server got his 2 table of the day. Well they get there food pretty fast also I would say about 10 minutes of sitting down so I have been eating for around 10 or 11 minutes at this rate he hasnât came back to check on me I am about half way done with my wings he does ask his other table if everything is alright because they just got there food at this rate my glass is 1/4 full but he didnât stop at my table. Well I end up finishing the rest of my drink and of course I would like to have something to drink with my food. But I donât see my server for dang near 15 minutes probably so I sat there for 15 minutes with no drink and this guy literally had 2 tables and you know what makes this even better the other server on staff walked past me 4 times with an empty drink and didnât offer to fill it. When I am at a sit down restaurant I expect...
