Read moreDon’t order the falafel unless you are craving falafel badly and don’t care how the ones they serve – which are on the small side -- taste. And the tahini sauce, which you must request because they’ll give you a white sauce instead, is watered down. That sauce, dispensed from a squeeze bottle kept on the front prep counter adjacent to the register, is sort of a back burner sauce for them. Perhaps it is used to spruce up one of their salads, kept right there next to the squeeze bottles.
Another tip would be not to request the hummus as a substitute for the tahini sauce, as that’s a dollar extra – no exceptions, though they’ll give you a sample of it. In fact, my very first time in, one guy who works there gave me a generous sample of their baba ghanoush. Good stuff, by the way.
Anyway, the manager didn’t hesitate to let me know loudly that I’d need to pay extra for any amount of hummus, since I forgot to bring my own tahini sauce that day and was not going to try the one from the squeeze bottle again. And, I’m not talking about a full side, which is more than a buck.
So, I get the feeling they are independent, have a good following, will happily serve you, but also don’t care if you don’t return. (He actually gave me a small dish of hummus that day, but let me know I’d have to pay next time.)
While the items with chicken, such as their Chicken Kabob Wrap or platter are tasty, they are a bit pricey. I didn’t find the yellow rice very good, and an employee was not able to tell me (beforehand) that it was basmati rice.
On one Sunday evening several months ago, they had no delivery person available.
A look through the paper menu reminded me that this is not a franchise, if it was, I feel like it would be clearer.
Bring that falafel up in...

Stopped by Gyro King and Grill of East Windsor, NJ in Sep 2024 for a family lunch. All the food ordered was very fresh and tasted great. The prices were reasonable. The portions were really generous, so we could hardly finish and took some food home.
Service was very friendly and attentive. We got some advice on Pakistani cuisine dishes and suggested choice was truly delicious.
The place seems to be take-out oriented as the interior is unremarkable and the food is served on plastic plates and in take-out containers. It doesn't affect food quality in any way, but just something to keep in mind.
We highly recommend Gyro King and Grill of East Windsor if you are in the area and looking for delicious kebabs and shawarma.
Appetizers - all tasted fresh and flavorful Hummus - very smooth and nicely complimented by olive oil and olives. I liked that it wasn't sour like it's often done in US. Babaganoush - excellent. Perfect texture and flavor. Falafel - as it should be. You could feel it was just made. Nicely balanced texture and taste.
Mains - all were good and tasty Chicken Kabob platter - tender and flavorful. Our daughter loved it and finished in no time. Chicken Bihari platter - this one was suggested by the cashier to try the Pakistani cuisine flavor and it was absolutely the best! Mix Grill Platter Lamb Shawarma platter Mixed Shawarma platter Chapli Kabob platter - this one was somewhat dry, like a well-done burger with a curry taste. It was still good, but would rank last out of all...
