Our first night in town, stopped here for an assortment of fried clams. The fried clams by the time we arrived back our rental 3 minutes away already had grease soaked through the container and was leaking out of the bag. Placing the container on the table allowed the oil to pool on the table. The large order of clam strip yielded about 6 to 8 pieces 2 inches or larger. The rest were about 1/2” pieces with a heavy taste of burnt oil. The whole belly were about the same, all were slightly larger than a quarter. The bill was $220.00 and two full boxes (half our order) was thrown out as they were an inedible crumbling mess of burnt tasting cooking oil. Absolutely nothing in this order tasted like a fried clam we craved during our 8 hour ride here. We chose the place because of the high reviews, but our order was nothing like we expected or paid for. Do yourself a favor and don’t even try this place or waste your money on this poorly cooked seafood.
Food pickup was interesting too. We called the order in, traveled the 3 minutes and arrived while it was still being cooked as we could see the chef. We waited in line inside and when I asked for the order, the woman stated you need to go outside to the window. Nobody was outside in line, the window was closed and we were 6 feet away from the woman working the window with our food right in front of us. So we walked outside, asked for our food and the woman picked up the bag that was six feet in front of us when we were inside and handed it to us. I could see if the place was busy and we needed to wait our turn in line, but there...
Read moreWe were expecting to have a great experience. The first issue is having a payment tablet in front of the girl taking our order. SUGGESTIONS were $20 and up...for taking an order? I won't return after being put in that position. We got fish and chips...$23 which included about 6 oz of haddock and a LOAD of very average not just cut fries. Fish was good...but FAR from $23 almost into October. The closer you get to the SUPPLY...ie fish...it should be less expensive or a bigger portion. Did get good Cole slaw in some sort of plastic paper. Can't even put it in a container? Next was a 4oz hot lobster roll that was somewhere around $25. Cheap school cafeteria bun and unimpressive lobster...again...they are probably a mile from a lobster boat. It should cost $15. The kicker..they don't even give you fries. You get a HALF ounce of potato CHIPS!!!!. REALLY? Next was kale soup with a tiny piece of sausage and a smaller piece of kale for $8 or so. It was decent...not restaurant quality. So it was $65....no drinks. It doesn't cost anymore to run a takeout fish place in Eastham than it does anywhere else...in fact it's cheaper close to the ocean. I would say that if the DOUBLED the portions or HALVED the price...it would be decent. I would never go there again...food isn't outstanding, price is crazy and the tipping pressure is absolutely absurd. I HATE leaving bad reviews...this is an exception. There is absolutely no reason to go there...and I dont like saying that. I guarantee that EVERYBODY that lives nearby has a better takeout fish place...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped in around noon to buy some scallops and other seafood for dinner later in the day, but also wanted to grab some belly clams and a poke bowl for lunch. We were inside the market and after looking at the seafood in the case, went to the back counter to order takeout. We asked the employee behind the counter if we could order some lunch. She told us we had to go outside to the order window, which was located adjacent within 3 ft from where we were standing while talking to her. My friend said, “can’t I just tell you I want an order of whole belly clams right now, or are you telling me I have to walk back out the front of the market and walk around the side of the building to the window where we’re standing?” Note there was no one ordering food, nor was anyone outside near the order window and it was raining. She said yes, you need to go outside to tell me what you want. Wow! We thought we were in an episode of Seinfeld or Curb! So we walked outside, got in our car and went to Stop&Shop. We were going to spend close to $100 for seafood that we would cook later for dinner and a takeout lunch. Sad that common sense has evaporated right in front of us. If I was the owner, I would expect the employee to make a rational decision rather than blindly imposing their routine process. We would have said the same thing to the same person whether we were inside or outside. We still would have to come inside to buy the seafood in the...
