Solid food and service make this place a great spot to take friends or grab a quiet lunch. Coming recommend to my wife, JINYA was a ramen bar we knew we needed to experience. We went during lunch, so it was quiet and we got a table right away. The place is dim, warm and welcoming with Japanese-inspired decor and wooden tables accenting the bar that runs along the edge of the restaurant. The appetizers range from $6-$12, BAO buns run about $7 each. You can xpect to pay north of $15 for any bowl of ramen. Prices aren't too bad and the quality was on par. The BAO buns were delicious and balanced well with creamy sauces and fresh veggies. The corn and jalapeno appetizer was unique, but didn't have much flavor. I'll be honest, as a man who has a "ramen cabinet" at my house, I take my ramen seriously and this place's ramen is decent. I've had much better elsewhere, but let's break it down. I got the premium tonkatsu red with chashu and all the typical fixings. The broth was lacking and didn't taste premium, but the chashu was outstanding. The noodles tasted like they get them pre-made and just warm them up and put them in the broth. Don't get me wrong; it was decent tasting, but I was expecting more for $18. My wife got the black tonkatsu and much better broth, but nothing that couldn't be achieved by different instant noodles I've had. Now let's talk sauces on the table. The hot sauce was a good chili sauce and the gyoza smelled a bit sweet but I didn't try it. BUT, the seasoning sauce has my heart! We could both literally drank it and because of it's umami flavor it really lifted the ramen broths to a new level! Definitely try it! The staff is great, friendly and our waiter (can't remember his name!) even helped me figure out what was in the seasoning sauce I liked. This place is clean, has fresh and tasty food and does it pretty well. Might not be my favorite ramen bar ever, but definitely a...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill a bit. I used to come all the time, maybe once per month. Anyway, I've been traveling for work, and it's been over a year since I came back. I've been there 3 times in the past month.
I sat immediately and got served quickly, just like the old days. A lot of the servers aren't there anymore, and the new ones seem just as nice. Though, I did get carded for alcohol even though I’m old as s--t and have gray hair, which isn't flattering but annoying to have to pull out my wallet (which I usually leave in my car) and wait for the whole ID check ceremony. I went in, and the place was fairly empty. I was asked to wait 15 minutes. I can't say why there was a wait, but it was already late, and I just wanted a bowl of ramen. I left and got Taco Bell instead. I had a rough day, so I went back the next night. I sat down and was served my beer and gyoza for a quick snack and left, no ID check this time (different server). Not an especially notable experience. It was quiet and empty again.
Each time, my food wasn't as hot as it used to be. I’m not sure if they changed something in the kitchen, but it used to be as hot as a cup of coffee, and now it's just above lukewarm.
I know times change, and what was once new becomes old, but something just doesn't feel right. The staff isn't as friendly as they used to be, the place is more empty, the service is still quick, and the 15-min wait was a bit odd.
And these were weekends, like Fridays and Saturdays, not Tuesday or something. I hope this place turns around and picks up the vibe again, but right now it's just not how it used to be, so take this as a concerned fan of Ramen and your establishment with...
Read moreCome on jun 4, Wednesday 9pm We came and i saw that the restaurant is pretty slow. She asked us that we need to wait for 10-15 minutes . At first, i feel confused because there is a lot of empty table but we still need to wait. I still trying to be patient
I saw the queue line that there is 2 people and 1 person that not been sitting . I feel confused when she said that they don’t have enough employees. After that we have been sitting 9.08 and i order 2 water , crispy chicken , tonkotsu ramen black, and spicy chicken ramen. The crispy chicken come at 9.15 and the ramens come at 9.43 pm. Hm… for me i used to come to this restaurant for many times and today i need to wait almost 30 minutes just for ramens. It’s not even busy. He just got 5 tables and some to go.
I saw the other tables, their food comes slow as well. What makes me frustrated that they don’t serve spoon on the table too. I need to ask the spoon.
Overall, i saw 3 ladies and 2 men working on the restaurant. I feel some disappointment today. I used to came here and everything is so excellent and fast. I finish my whole bowl, but to be honest, their ramen broth is not even Hot . I don’t even know how they serve it.
Tekstur of the noodle is too firm, maybe they didn’t cook it well or they leave for along time before serving to my table. Crispy chicken is good. However, the tonkotsu ( meat) tastes weird.
Maybe this is my last come! What a disappointment for ramen that price around 18$ with...
