I had high hopes for this place as I heard they had Persian food. Mediterranean is not necessarily Persian.
I will say the food was OK.
We had the hummus as an appetizer. It was just like what you would get out of a can. For $4.75, not a good deal. And they served it on a very large plate. An ice cream scoop of hummus and 11 small bread triangles and a lot of space on the plate. Made the expensive, bland appetizer seem even worse.
The stand out saving grace of the whole meal was the bread. It is not a pita bread but triangles of a delicious flat bread that I liked better than any of the food.
I had the chicken breast kabob. It comes with rice, salad, bread and small taziki sauce. Overall it was very dry. I wanted to add a ton of butter. The salad was from a bag and some pieces were yucky and brown. This is my biggest pet peeve. Turned me off from the rest of my meal.
My husband had the ground sirloin kabob. It was tasty but seemed like in the marination they don't use any onions.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The girl at the front counter gave detailed explanations of all the dishes and was interested in finding you something you would like if you were not familiar with the menu.
The price was too high for the quality of the food and portion size.
UPDATED REVIEW 5/1/2018 I will gladly update my previous review.
Came here with my family and enjoyed a delicious meal.
The ground sirloin kabob was flavorful. The flat iron chicken was also very good. The gyros plate was a surprise standout !! The thin slices of meat were so good. I will get this again. The new beer salad was very good. I added falafel and it made a great meal and I took 1/2 to go. The hummus is great and the star of the show is definitely the flatbread. I could eat it all day!
Their drink selection is what pushed this review to a 5 Star. The unique sodas a nice change and the Pomegranate Lemonade was amazing !!!
Thank you Luna Grill for great food and the opportunity to...
Read moreI love eating at Luna Grill, the food is delicious and it's always so fresh tasting. From their gyro to the grass-fed burgers, everything is so delicious. My absolute most favorite item though is not a food - it's the raspberry tea that they have here! I always get it! Sometimes I'll make my own Arnold Palmer variation and do raspberry tea with the pomegranate lemonade, you should try it sometime!
As far as entrees go, my favorite items would be the Mediterranean Salad with chicken. Their grilled chicken is perfectly cooked with a slight bit a char and still very moist. They include a wedge of lemon which really brightens up the flavor of the couscous and the vinaigrette. My other favorite item is the El Greco Bowl. If you love gyro and spicy food you definitely have to try this item. I would say it is like the Luna Grill's Mediterranean version of carne asada fries. It has their crispy almost shoe-string like french fries that are topped with their delicious gyro, serrano pepper, spicy yogurt sauce and feta cheese. It's definitely one of their more calorie heavy items, but it's so good!
The location can sometimes get busy, but rarely do you ever have to wait for a table to clear out to take a seat. The serving style is exactly like Panera - you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. I do like that they have a small selection of wine and beer so adults can have a nice beverage to complement their meal, perhaps at the end of a long day.
They also have a selection of small cupcakes - all three flavors (vanilla, chocolate and red velvet with cream cheese frosting) delicious, of course. I haven't had chance to try their chocolate baklava (chocolava) but their baklava is really nice. It has that nice syrup-soaked bottom layer that makes it...
Read moreOrdered the harvest bowl will a full skewer of chicken rather than half and the fries. Food tasted authentic and clean, which I appreciated. Order was taken by Ryan who was managed to be engaging and funny and helpful all in a short span of time while ordering, then I watched her facilitate the large group of people who ordered before me (who had clearly just come from some event) with seating and hasten pickup orders in an environment that did seem overwhelming.
The only drawback would have been the speed of service. It did take a while to get what amounts to a chicken salad and fries. I know they are grilling things fresh, but I could also see the pile up of tickets between online, take out and dine in orders, and it looked like there were fewer people in the kitchen than behind the register (based on what I saw from my limited view), so there’s only so much front of house can do to expedite things. That’s just my opinion.
If I’d have dinged them for anything, it would be that. I waited probably 15 or so mins for my order which feels like a long time in a world where we order a lot of fast food. But then, Ryan was really awesome so I added the service star back.
I don’t live in the area so I can’t compare it with other Mediterranean places in the area, but the flavours were clean and fresh. Just don’t come expecting to be in and out in 5 minutes, especially as it seems they do a lot of delivery here, so it might actually be busier...
