Don't love leaving low reviews for local businesses, but I've got to be honest.
My friend and I planned on coming here for a cheap lunch due to all of the menus/pictures/reviews online-- originally before Thanksgiving, but we waited too long for that. Went in and were told they no longer have a menu and only have a daily special. We were disappointed, but if they're just making a single thing for that day, it should be pretty decent, so we both decided to eat there.
We were told that it was a big portion of pork belly, bronco beans (wasn't even sure what that was, to be honest), and a side of cornbread. Aside from the beans, it sounded good to me. When the plate came out, there was enough meat on the plate to perhaps make an average size pulled pork sandwich, and it was also rather cold. Not a whole lot of meat. The taste was actually pretty good, though. The cornbread portion was MASSIVE taking up about half of the plate, but it wasn't served with any butter and tasted like Jiffy cornbread (can't confirm that or anything, but it tasted like boxed cornbread), It was also very dry, and not in the typical cornbread way. The beans I can't really speak on since I don't like beans that much, but my friend said it just tasted like Bush's baked beans with some extra stuff thrown in, but the portion was fine.
If the meal was several dollars cheaper I think it would be okay, but for $16, it was a bit much. Also $2 for a soda so after taxes it comes out to $20. It's just a bit too expensive for the portions with so many places nearby that are around the same price but for more food.
Service was, however, great and I can't speak on the cocktails since we didn't want to spend any more money and both left a bit disappointed. We both REALLY wanted to like this place as it looked like a nice hidden gem, but I sadly can't recommend it as it...
Read moreGood food, but it could be better. I had a Philly cheese steak, which wasn't bad, but without green peppers or provolone cheese, it did not have that classic Philly taste. I had an NA beer, which came in the can. I asked for a glass for the second one, and it came with ice.i have no idea why they put ice in my beer glass. My friends chaser beer, for her bloody Mary, was served like a normal beer. She said the bloody was very good. My wife had the fish fry and said she felt it was ok. It was food, but nothing to write home about. The appetizers we had, curds and onion rings, were good. It's a newer place at the time of this writing, and the fish fry was the first one they did since adding it to their menu, so maybe with time, the food will improve. The floor was littered with pull tabs, which I guess was intentional but not my thing. Looks tacky to me. However the general atmosphere was relaxed and everyone was very friendly. (Ceiling fan blades need to be cleaned badly!) Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall, the atmosphere is good for a bar, I just wouldn't make it a destination for a meal unless it improves. Great place for some beers, but I'll ask them to hold the...
