Best place to get high quality fresh produce year round. Of course there's also the farmers market in the summer, but this coop is year round and tends to be a bit higher quality than the fm, even though the fm quality is high as well.
I hear some people complaining about their prices, but usually it's folks that don't understand the value of clean and nutrient dense food vs processed or pesticide contaminated foods, and how much your actually saving in future hospital bills by preventing a lot of America's top health problems because of our typical American diet. (I love junk food too, but as a treat once in awhile)
If your not going for health, of course it seems absurd to buy these foods at a higher cost, but to those who value their health, it's a wise and valuable investment. Their fresh produce is not that much more than any other grocery store, but it is the best quality I've seen in town. This is my go to place for fresh food!
The people are super down to earth! I love chatting with Jonathan when he's working and the rest of the staff are pretty cool too. The only problem I have with this coop is that it's smaller than the one in Menominee, but the new building is already in the works, so soon we shall have a lot bigger store!...
Read moreEncountered a challenging situation during my recent visit where the staff seemed unable to address my inquiry appropriately. To resolve the matter, assistance from the manager was required, albeit in a way that unintentionally drew attention. It was an innocent mistake to have my younger sister accompany me for a wine purchase, and I want to clarify that I knew I couldn’t proceed. My issue was the way I was treated. I come here several times a week as I live close and was interested in a membership. I just believe it's crucial to share this feedback to emphasize that while the store environment is generally appealing, instances like these may make customers feel unwelcome. The manager suggested I could return the next day, and while I appreciate the guidance, it felt unnecessary to go through such a process for a straightforward answer. I hope my experience contributes to a more considerate and efficient customer interaction...
Read moreJust Local Foods is the best damn grocery store in town. Eau Claire is a big city, at least bigger than Blair, with many big box so-called grocery stores to select from. But instead of rows on rows of agribusiness processed foods, Just Local packs more wonderful, largely-locally sourced foods and related products into every square foot than other store: from craft beers to home-made soap, local really fresh eggs to seasonal cured meats, to loose spices and herbs to bulk orders. This store is simply in adventure in food growing and geography. Even if you don’t eat (and who does not), you can learn a lot about our world. Some people say that the prices are high; eat less and be healthy; and save a cow or carrot! If you need another reason to visit and shop here, enjoy the staff – all extremely personable, smart, knowledgeable, helpful, and almost too friendly and pleasant (but then we’re in the Midwest). Go find out, tell me...
