Wouldn’t come back. We had a family party here tonight. There were so many things going on. There was a slug climbing the wall like 2 feet from where we were eating. Accompanied by a huge deep hole that is a lawsuit awaiting. Pictured is the same dish ordered by two people, one person got jipped, the other person got double the amount of food. The chicken ordered by someone in our party was so rubbery and horrible. When the owner came and asked how everything was, we told him of these issues, he could careless. When told about the slug, he replied “welcome to Louisiana”. We are all native people from here. We are not swamp people. When you’re going to a “nicer” restaurant (portrayed as this one) you don’t expect critters to be crawling.. and then when addressing the critters, the owner simply leaves them to continue sliming around. 🤢🥴 We all collectively said we wouldn’t return.

This is a great little Italian restaurant. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. The service is great and the owner is a gem. He comes out often to welcome guest. We have had at least five of the entrees and a couple of them at least twice. The stuffed mushrooms are my favorite appetizer and the bread they bake is the best. We do not drink when we are out, however, it would appear they are well stocked with many wines to choose from. They do take reservations but we go after 7 and normally have no problem getting in within 30 minutes (party of 2).

Huge portions and the lunch specials make this place worth coming from New Orleans. I wish there was something that could be done about the parking because during the lunch rush there was no where to park. I had to park in the lot next door. The water view behind the private dining area adds to the ambiance. We had a party of 20 so the service was a bit slow. They ran out of lasagna but the Chicken Parmesan was excellent. I’m never in Slidell but if I am, I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in.

Dining out at this level is an experience .... Our evening started with a casual friendly flare, got very uncomfortable and, thankfully somewhat recovered (ish).

Our waitress was AWESOME.

The bread knots are divine.

The salty dog cocktail has the wonderful bitteresqueness grapefruit should impart. The rum punch was bucket worthy.

The veal piccata was thin, not over cooked, light and savory.

The mishap came with the dinner special, a trio tour of pasta Alfredo, lasagna, and, the pitfall, THICK pink- meat chicken parm (the chicken should be pounded thin and cooked to an internal temp of 165). Where things got very uncomfortable was sending the plate back to get the chicken cooked. A few bites of the Alfredo and of the lasagna were consumed but when the plate came back the only thing we got was the parm, not the balance of our Alfredo our lasagna. The owner was, well, quasi argumentative and it just put the whole experience off after that. Fortunately the waitress saw our plate that was returned to the kitchen so after about 10 minutes our Alfredo and lasagna were brought to us, and not just the balance of what we had not eaten but an entire replacement. Sooooo uncomfortable situation was turned around (ish). Sadly we still left with the lingering feeling that the owner was put off, which put a real soggy sock on our rare...

First, before I mislead anyone, this is not a 5 Star restaurant in terms of what one would normally consider a 5 star place. However, we have been to Joe's numerous times. Each time the food and the service have been very, very good. The staff takes care of you without being pestering and we have never felt rushed out of there, even on a busy day with a large party. I have sampled most of the dishes with the exception of the seafood dishes and have liked them all. Even the pizza was quite good.

The physical environment is very nice, and the view over the water is always quite pleasant. If there is anything to complain about, it is the lack of parking. It can be difficult to get a spot if you go there on a busy time such as Friday or Saturday night. Due to the location, if the lot is full, there are not many good alternatives...
