Hubby and I came here on a Friday night to check this lovely little spot out on a whim. We were delightfully surprised. Very clean. Great customer service given by Daniel. I’m glad we came later because while there were patrons when we arrived, we eventually got to appreciate the place like we had it to ourselves. We liked the music and layout of the place. And while there are other locations, we like that each location has slightly different offerings and we especially like that this opened in Edgewater because Edgewater needed it. Sorry, Paris. The cinnamon sugar croissant roll. WHAT! Get you some (there’s chubby and mini sized, we went for the bigger one). Light and airy. The outside is dusted in cinnamon sugar and the inside is like croissant heaven in a bite. We agree with the other reviewers that the baguette IS definitely good. The butter roll with salt is tasty. The snow cheese bread is also good but would be killer warmed. Actually, bring some home and eat it with… dare I say it…pasta!!! Fo sho get some FOcaccia!!! We got the everything version and it sure was tasty and pillowy and had the right chewiness. Loved it. The Hollabang tea (mandarin citrus honey tea) was good both hot and as a refreshing ade (iced and sparkling). There’s parking so there’s no excuse to not check it out. We will be back! Funny, we got our goodies to go (everything was packed nicely) and ended up sitting/hanging out for a little nibble on the stuff we got to snack on and that we THOUGHT we were gonna have with the little breakfast we were going to make the next morning! Ha! My husband went back for another tray of goodies to replace what we noshed! Yes, it’s really good. No bloat afterwards. Fresh!!!!! And also dangerous. Dangerously good, that is!

A wonderful cashier wrapped up our pastries with such care. This was the highlight of my experience here. I love the D’avant in Ridgefield, so I figured I would try this one since it’s closer to home. Not as many Korean bakery options. No red bean mochi donut which is my favorite. More European style pastries here. I had the sweet potato danish and their famous layered bread. The layered bread was sooo fantastic. It was like a cloud on the inside with amazing buttery layers and a crisp slightly sweet crust. Fabulous. The sweet potato danish was a bit lacking in flavor. I appreciate that their pastries aren’t too sweet, but I would’ve liked for some other flavors to shine though. I’m a fan of the ambiance in D’avant. It is minimal and suited for dining in. I have only ever gotten pastries to go, though.

I can't wait to make this my usual spot! The Earl Grey Grapefruit cake was out of this world, we celebrated my birthday early just so we could get it while a friend was in town. And I believe this was their opening day. The staff even provided us with candles, plates and silverware. These pastries are definitely more refined and than Paris Baguette, and there are some very interesting flavor combos like ube white chocolate. They also have canele which I ate before I could take a picture because they are so hard to find and I couldn't wait. It was the best canele I have had since pastry class in culinary school. I would order a cake made of canele if I could. Maybe something for the secret menu?😉

I want to start by saying this bakery itself at new location is fantastic. The food is great, and the other staff members I interacted with were friendly and efficient. However, my today’s visit was significantly undermined by a deeply unpleasant experience with one specific cashier named Esme.(receipt is showing this name, she is not Korean for sure) The issue began when I had a simple question about the bread slicer and wanna pay for one coffee and the bread. The store wasn't busy, but Esme was immediately dismissive. She instructed me to pay for my coffee first, then get back in line to pay for the bread separately. This seemed unnecessarily complicated, and her tone was unhelpful. Misunderstanding her instructions, I thought she meant I would pay for everything together after getting my bread sliced. While I wen to check with the bread and get it, the cashier suddenly raised her voice, accusing me of not paying. It was embarrassing and completely uncalled for. The situation became even more confusing when another cashier who helped me with slicing, witnessing the commotion, thought I had already paid. It became clear that Esme was unwilling to provide basic, courteous service. Her attitude was the worst I've encountered, and her communication skills need serious improvement. She needs to learn how to instruct customers clearly and speak to people with respect.

I had no issue at all with another location in the past years - people and food are all great. And expected same experience in this location but unfortunately it did not happen. I will return for the excellent food and the other wonderful staff, but I truly hope management addresses this issue. Such a negative interaction can really tarnish an otherwise...
