If you're ever in Edina and looking for a chill spot that's a bit off the beaten path, you've got to check out Wooden Hill Brewing. Seriously, it's tucked away in a business park, which might sound a little odd for a brewery, but trust me, it just adds to its hidden gem charm. Once you step inside, you'll be pleasantly surprised by just how much space they have. "Ample seating" is almost an understatement – whether you're looking for a cozy corner for a quiet chat or a bigger table for a whole crew, they've got you covered. No awkward hovering, which is always a plus. Now, let's talk about the important stuff: the food and the beer. Their menu is anything but standard brewery fare. They really put some thought into it, and you can tell. Everything I've tried has been delicious, from their elevated pub grub to the more unique seasonal specials. It's the kind of food that makes you want to try a bit of everything on the table. And the beer? Oh, the beer. They've got a fantastic selection, with plenty of variety to keep any palate happy. Whether you're into hoppy IPAs, smooth stouts, or something a little lighter, you're bound to find a new favorite. They're always brewing up something interesting, so there's usually a new tap to explore. What really ties the whole experience together, though, is the staff. They're genuinely fun and helpful, always ready with a recommendation or a quick chat. It creates this really welcoming vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. So, if you find yourself near Edina and in need of good food, great beer, and a relaxed atmosphere, do yourself a favor and seek out Wooden Hill Brewing. It's a fantastic spot that delivers...
Read moreOnce was enough for us. My wife and I stopped in for beer and a quick dinner. One of the beers was quite good and the other disappointing. Ordering at the counter and carrying on any kind of conversation at our table was difficult because of the echoes of the other patrons' conversations. The bare concrete floors, bare ceiling and open layout create a perfect echo chamber. The ordering process includes going up to their counter and carrying your beer to a table or booth and then returning to the front counter to get your food, utensils, napkins (drink napkins, not meal napkins) and condiments. When you pay, you are prompted to select a 15%, 20%, 25%, other or no tip with the person at the register staring you down. Asking for gratuities without delivering any service is ridiculous in my opinion. The menu is extremely limited, but the items we ordered tasted good. No one checked to see if we were satisfied. If you want a second beverage, it is up to you to go get it. $33 for 2 beers, a brat and a small flatbread with no service in a place that was too loud for conversation failed to meet our...
Read moreMy first impression of this establishment was a very positive one. I like the fact they have board games and people were actually playing them. I like the fact that they had a wall full of chilled take home cans. I like the open atmosphere and how nice and helpful the staff were. Next time, and oh yes there will be a next time, I plan on sampling a burger and also getting a flight sampler so I can start my journey on the path of sampling every one of their brews before deciding on a favorite. I did not get a chance to peek out the back door in their open air area but I saw lots of people coming in and going out and it looked like they're enjoying themselves so it must be good out there. They would have earned five stars instead of four for the simple fact that I had forgotten to close my tab and I had to stand in line behind 15 people in order to do that. I wish there was a quicker way to be able to just step up to a cashier and ask them to close the tab or maybe have an online option that I can close my tab myself....
