I went here MULTIPLE times it became a favorite place but we went one Sunday...ordered 7 tacos, tamal, and a Jamaica. The food was NOT good as usual ...the tortilla not soft and chewable it was like never ending chewing and cold. The tamal was mostly mada and small compared to the decent size tamales we got before, chicken in the tamal and tacos were dry...and they gave ZERO SALSA ..so that did not help the dryness either. Only decent things was the Jamaica and even so that day seemed the taste was a bit off and not cold. I called explained the situation and that we had been there plenty and the food was great but this time just was not it which the prior Sunday we also went and food was not as good as when we went on Saturday so perhaps it's the Sunday workers. I called the lady that answered who was not sounding very sure if herself said they refund since we could not drive all the way back. I still have no refund and it's been well over a week and the email customer service says they have no way to refund in store nor a way to see our order even tho I have the email confirmation with the order # and info. Bummer because that was the closish taco place we liked that the tacos didn't get soggy...but I suppose we will have to find a new place after this because after the way the lady on the phone wasn't helpful I just can't chance getting crappy food again and not being helped. I also speak Spanish and could hear her on the phone asking her if the tortillas were soft ECT...and of course she wasn't going to say no they were old and hard....but the fact they were cold, hard to chew and just nasty was ridiculous and we were going there literally every weekend for tacos, flan, tres leches and tamales. Whoever was cooking when we first starting going there was awesome and taste authentic and amazing. Sucks that Sunday crew...
Read moreWhen you're in Edina and a craving for authentic Mexican food hits, Taco Libre is definitely worth a visit. This spot brings a lively, almost "luchador lifestyle" vibe to its focus on good, fresh Mexican cuisine. What really stands out here is the commitment to flavor. Many places do tacos, but Taco Libre delivers on the promise of robust, well-seasoned meats and fresh ingredients. Their street tacos are a classic for a reason – simple, yet packed with taste. If you're feeling adventurous, don't shy away from their "machetes" or the Quesabirrias; these are serious contenders for a satisfying meal. The consome that comes with the Quesabirrias is particularly noteworthy for its rich, flavorful depth. Beyond the tacos, their tortas are also a hit. It's not every day you find a Mexican sandwich that genuinely transports you, but Taco Libre manages it with a perfect balance of chewy bread, tender meat, and fresh fixings. And if you're a fan of good queso, theirs is thick, creamy, and wonderfully addictive. While they're known for their quick service, which is a huge plus, it's always a good idea to double-check your order if you're taking it to go, just to make sure everything's there. But honestly, the quality of the food generally outweighs any minor logistical hiccups. All in all, Taco Libre in Edina provides a genuinely flavorful and satisfying Mexican food experience. It's the kind of place that sticks with you long after...
Read moreMy wife and I have driven past this place on our way to work. We decided to stop in today for dinner.
One word to describe the place?
WOW!
When we walked in the line was almost out the door. It moved pretty quick which was nice! We ordered our food (see the picture attached for what my Wife ordered) and it was a bit expensive. Almost 35 bucks for 8 al pastor tacos, street corn and a mango water thing.
Despite being a bit expensive, the food was well worth it! They give you a nice sized portion for each taco, with or without the fixings you want. Once you place your order, they have a salsa bar with 8-10 different salsas ranging from mild to pretty hot. Regardless how spicy you like, they were all great!
The one downside to this place is that there aren't enough tables for everyone to sit and eat. I would say maybe a total of 12, 4 person tables, with a couple large high tops up front by the door.
It took roughly 20-25 minutes to get our order, which wasnt an issue. When I say this place was packed when we walked in, it continued until we left. A couple of people weren't too fond of the wait, but we didnt care. We knew how busy it was and were fine with waiting.
All in all, we WILL be back!! The food was great, service was very nice. Do yourself a favor and stop by, but be prepared to wait a...
