I was convinced by my fiancee to try out Missing Pieces, as she's done almost all of their rooms. She had her heart set on doing Ruin Raiders, as it was supposed to be challenging and was suggested by the owners to her in previous visits. I had a wonderful time in the room and would suggest it to anyone who has yet to try it. I've only done 2 rooms, including this one, the first one left a sour taste in my mouth. I entered this room hoping for a better experience and it paid off 10 fold. The story is homegrown, the puzzles are entertaining, and the staff/family is very approachable and pleasant. As to the difficulty of the room, I found it more entertaining than challenging. I have a long history of putting puzzles and challenges together for table top games, and I enjoy solving puzzles whenever I can, from crosswords to Rubiks Cubes. Finding the solutions had a lot of "That was a good design" or "I like how that was put together" reactions. Though I was given one "Wow!" moment which made it that much better. In the end, check out Missing Pieces, give their rooms a shot, and have fun!

This place was stupendous! Not only were the staff friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel at home, but the quality of the experience really impressed me. With this being my first escape room experience, I honestly had low expectations. Not only did Missing Pieces blow my expectations out of the water, I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK! The environment was engaging and the use of technology really drew me in as an engineer. We had a phenomenal time and we're just itching to go back ASAP!

The puzzles are great! Pretty hard, but not frustratingly so. "Excalibur" had some types of puzzles I'd never seen before. "Santa's List" was one of the hardest rooms I've done, in a good way -- we weren't sure about it going in, with the xmas theme and all, but it was great! :) Side note: we had an issue come up the first time we went, and they went to great lengths to make things right for us. Highly recommend this place!

Booked a reservation at Missing Pieces Escape Games for my Daughter’s 13th birthday party. I researched other companies and settled on Missing Pieces in Edina for the location. I booked it well in advance, sent all the Evites out and got confirmation of my appointment for 11:30am on a Saturday.

On the day of the event, I asked everyone to arrive 15 minutes early to the venue, for check-in. All six parents of my daughter’s friends had come to drop off. It was in the 90’s and very humid that day and my guests were forced to stand and wait outside for over 20 minutes, for someone to open up the building and let them in but no one ever showed up for their shift. In fact, the business was supposed to be open at 10:00am that morning, so after an hour 1/2 nobody ever checked that someone opened up their business!!

After waiting for what seemed an eternity, my husband called me to confirm the reservation again and he asked me to try to get a hold of someone at Missing Pieces. I called the business number and I only got an automated “run around” that led to nowhere. I finally was able to leave a voice mail message, which I admit was scathing because I was very embarrassed and quite upset.

After about 10-15 additional minutes, I finally received a call back from a younger gentleman. The guy told me that they were short staffed (1 of 2 only) and that there was an alleged family emergency. I proceeded to ask, “why didn’t anybody call to inform me”? The guy said that he found out only 5 minutes ago, which I call BS on.

Since they did not have an adequate explanation and no contingency plan, I had to tell my guests to come to my house instead, which was not ideal. Though he was polite and apologetic, rather than try to come up with a solution, he immediately offered to credit my account, no questions asked. I rather have been given the option to come back later that day or on another day entirely but he never gave me that opportunity.

Till this day and it has been several weeks now, have I ever received a follow up call or email, apologizing for their oversight and the inconvenience my guests and I encountered. I am surprised that a small, family owned businesses would conduct their business in such a way and so unprofessional.

I wish they would have done the right thing by my daughter, who never had the chance to enjoy this experience with her friends on her birthday.

I would not recommend this establishment or frequent it in the future. There are...

The worst experience I’ve ever had in an escape room.

I’ve worked in escape rooms for 3 years and been to over 30 escape rooms in MN. This was by far the WORST player experience I have ever had in any escape room. I was really looking forward to playing at this location because it was my first time here, and I don’t think I will ever spend my money to play here again.

To start off, our game guide started negging our team without any outward permission from us that our team would be okay with that. The game guide overall was either not fully trained, or incredibly distract-able during our game. When we would ask for a clue, it would take a minimum of 2 minutes to receive any help, and when we did get it, it was either unrelated to the puzzle we were asking for help on/ actively working on, or the most obvious clue from their clue set that we already knew.

The room itself was not reset properly, and when we brought up a very large issue in the second space, it took ten minutes AFTER asking about it for anyone to come into the room and fix it (mind you, this was also without the issue being acknowledged by the game guide, so when they came into the room, we were all utterly confused as to what was happening). The entire time, our whole team was explaining how frustrated we were and how we felt the help we received was inadequate with no follow-up, or acknowledgement from the game guide other than a “did you have fun” at the end of our game. We asked for a total of 6-7 clues. Only TWO of our clues actually helped us in the game. The puzzles inside the room did not flow, and were some of the most convoluted puzzles I have seen.

This is the first of 30 rooms I have played that I have not escaped, and it was simply due to the negligence of the staff members, which should never happen when I am playing $35 plus tax to play your experience. I don’t know if the leadership of this location was not paying attention to our game — although we were the only players in the building — or not paying attention to their CLEARLY new game guide’s game. In the future, if you know that a team member is unprepared to run a room on their own, have them continue shadowing someone who knows what they’re doing, or shadow them. I should not — as a guest — notice when a game guide is unprepared with their clues, and manually triggering puzzles when they aren’t working properly...

Cuckoo’s Clock. Took 7 minutes for the game guide to go get markers that were forgotten. The room wasn’t reset right and employees had to come in twice to fix it. Didn’t pay attention to players and when we were stuck on a puzzle for TWENTY MINUTES the guide didn’t chime in once or notice we were stuck. And when we asked for a clue it wasn’t even on the puzzle we were stuck on!

The puzzles don’t flow together and some of the puzzles are so convoluted that we went in with two players that have done and completed over 30 different escape rooms and finished with THREE puzzles not done. We solved two of those three clues but couldn’t advance due to the puzzles having to be manually triggered WHEN WE DIDN’T KNOW THEY HAD TO BE! We thought we got them wrong and were stuck! I felt utterly ignored and was fuming at the end. The performance by the game guide, Tyler was just embarrassing. We asked for help and didn’t get adequate help. We were all openly OUT LOUD saying how frustrated we were at the puzzles and didn’t get a single hint or the game guide check on us ONCE. The team lead should have come into the room and talk to us. It was just utterly unacceptable. I paid $35 dollars for an experience I felt mad and utterly ignored in. It felt like the game guide was on his phone half the time and just ignoring us or brand new and woefully unprepared for running the room solo.

I’m going to go online later and demand a refund. Unacceptable. $35 for an experience that was NOT worth it, I...
