La Mexicana Bakery — Restaurant in Edinburg

My name is Arnold Alaniz from Ft Worth Texas and I went to panaderia La Mexicana in Edinburg Texas on Saturday February 4th 2023 to buy some pan dulce for my brother Fino Alaniz memorial service. My brother took me there back in 2019 and old me this was the best pan dulce in Edinburg. So I went there this day and told the young lady that I needed 50 mixed pieces of pan dulce. I began talking to the owners about my brother. They recognized the name. They said he went there often and bought pan dulce and also would take them lots of deer and wild pork meats. They couldn't believe he passed away. We chatted for a bit. After we said our good byes I was going to pay for the pan dulce and this wonderful people said no. It was a gift from them. Visited RGV family during the HOT Summer month of June from my local Houston area suburbs. La Mexicana bakeries iconic to Elsa, Tx location has been a staple to my family heritage. Reminiscing early morning trips my parents would make for the freshly made delicacies they would bring from La Mexicana are sweet memories embedded in each morsel we have the preveilage of enjoying now even after our parents have been called hm to our Lord. RGV has many stiff competitors in the business. However, each bakery has it's own unique artisan synonymous of their own creations that stand above the rest where quality, taste, presentation & customer service is key. La Mexicana has stood true to these standards throughout the decades. Extremely delicious, bread is always soft and fresh! Establishment is very clean and well cared for, prices are great!! I got 4 large donuts, 2 large concha’s, a large pig in the blanket, and a breakfast taco (potato & egg) for $9. The portions are very generous for the price and I especially love how considerately they bagged my bread. A lot of bakeries just throw your pieces in a bag on top of each other and they get all squished. The young lady that assisted me organized my bag so thoughtfully, and it prompted this review because it stood out to me.
