We had extremely high expectations as this restaurant was highly suggested by a family friend, however, it fell short. The place is in a strip mall, but once inside it was very welcoming and clean. It had a good vibe and we were excited. Started off with Goi Cuon and Nem Cuon as our appetizers which were fresh, vibrant and had a great peanut/soy dipping sauce that exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the meal. We had Thai tea which was very good as well. Now to the main course, we both ordered Pho based solely on the recommendation, both of us were so disappointed, so much so that we didn’t even take home any of the leftovers, a 1st in long time. The Pho Xe Lua had “well done brisket”, little did I know it meant the toughest meat which was absolutely devoid of flavor, its as if they cooked it to total dryness then boiled every scintilla of flavor from that piece of meat, not a pleasant piece of meat to say the least. The broth was less than average, my own stock would blow this away. The other Pho was Pho Tai that also had a lack of flavor in its broth. Thank goodness for the hot chili sauce and jalapenos on the table to make it a bit more palatable and the copious amount of basil to get some flavor. Very disappointing meal, maybe it was just a bad day, I will never know however. Lastly, the service was great...
Read moreSo far I only had the food delivered but OMG.. but everything is so delicious. The Phở broth is so legit. (Tip: if you order Phở, ask for UNCOOKED NOODLE and do it yourself at home by dip the noodle in boil water for a couple SECONDS and believe me, a bit of work but it is a game changer, your Phở will be better than you're at the restaurant yourself). Don't even bother to eat bloated noodles.Bún riêu is authentic and one of the best I've ever eaten. Bánh cuốn (meat and mushroom stuffed rice crepe ) and Bánh hỏi nem nướng (rice woven basket style with grilled sour pork) both came with tons of veggies, herbs, pickles and nước mắm ( prepared fish sauce). Canh Chua Cá Hồi ( Sweet and sour salmon soup) is delish, it is sweet from pineapple juice, you can add a bit of lime. The salmon, the pineapples, the tomato, the bean sprouts and the herbs interwoven flavor with one another, adding the rice or ask for Phở noodle substitute it is better than Phở, try it! *Thai known for Tom Yum, Vietnamese known for Canh Chua Cá. The grilled pork or grilled chicken Bánh Mì are reasonable and very good too although I had better Bánh Mì. This place is a gem. They also delivery via Grubhub. Good portion and real fast. Delivery fee was high...
Read moreThe worst service ever!!! We sat at our table and the waitress asked us what do we want to drink? We told her we want to drink water. She walked away and we waited for a while and didn't get any glasses of water. We were thirsty because the temperature today was in the 90s. Other people who came after us got their glasses of water. Then our waiter took our order. After when we placed our order, we still haven't get any glasses of water. On my way to the restroom, I told our waiter we still haven't receive any glass of water. He told me he'll get it for us. When I came back to my table, I still don't see any glasses of water on our table. We're so mad. When our waiter brung our foods, I asked him why he didn't bring us some glasses of water. He told me he saw the customers walked in and try to sit them down. That's fine but at least tell someone else to serve us some glasses of water. When we finish with our glass of water they don't come around to check with us. These people seem like they don't care about their customers. I dined out at other busy restaurants and they gave us good service. Not only they asked how was our foods they also refilled our drinks...
