I visited Smoothie King around 7:00 PM today and experienced one of the worst customer service encounters Iāve ever had. I waited at the drive-thru for an extended period without any acknowledgment. Unsure if the store was open or closed, I called the location to confirm. Someone answered the phone, and I politely asked if they were open because I was at the drive-thru. Instead of a response, the person abruptly hung up on me. Moments later, the speaker activated, and an employee asked, āHow can I help you?ā
I calmly addressed the fact that there was no need to hang up on me. Rather than acknowledge or apologize, the employee repeated, āHow may I help you?ā as if my concerns didnāt matter. I explained that I called because I wanted to ensure the store was open. Her reply? āAre you going to order?ā At that point, I decided I no longer wanted to be disrespected. Another car pulled up behind me, and I informed her I would drive up to the window to discuss the situation.
When I got to the window, she purposely took the other carās order first, making me wait even longer. When she finally addressed me, I asked if she was the one who hung up on me. Instead of answering, she repeatedly asked, āAre you going to order?ā After asking again, she claimed her coworker had hung up on me. I asked for the coworkerās name, and she said it was Gisselle. I also asked for her name, and she identified herself as Sam.
At this point, I requested to speak with a manager. She told me no manager was present, but the managerās name was Andrew. Frustrated but determined to remain respectful, I left without placing an order.
Itās disheartening to see employees with such poor attitudes. These employees are so angry, and theyāre barely 16 years old. What could they possibly be so upset about high school drama? The job itself isnāt that complicated, my love youāre literally putting fruit in a bowl and handing it out a window. Being polite to customers should be the bare minimum.
Iāve been a loyal customer, typically ordering through DoorDash, but after this experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Itās baffling why employees act this way when their role is straightforward: providing customer service and fulfilling orders.

The only helpful criticism I have for the team is when people order larger smoothies, heavier amounts of the ingredients need to be added. I love upsize Fridays but when im already on the road and my smoothie is not made correctly, itās super annoying & I canāt help but to think if I shouldāve spent less money on a smoothie elsewhere that wouldāve been made correctly.
